Dodgeball Academia Free Download GAMESPACK.NET It’s very difficult to make school appealing. Persona gave it a go, and Lego Harry Potter took its best shot, but in general we just don’t want to go to school ever. Dodgeball Academia is up against it from the off, but compelling gameplay could have brought it back from the brink of enforced educational apathy. Sadly, it’s just not quite there. Points for effort, though. Dodgeball Academia is a terrific-looking game, with a marvelous cartoony style that constantly impresses with its slickly-animated little flourishes while still feeling responsive, the way a game absolutely needs to. We think the characters and world have a vibe that’s more than a little similar to Cartoon Network’s OK KO series, to the point that we wonder if the show’s creators might need to have a little word. So what’s the story? Protagonist Otto dodgeballs his way through eight episodes worth of narrative, spiking balls into opponents’ faces for all he’s worth. You’ll explore the grounds of Dodgeball Academia, gathering your team, levelling them up, giving them accessories — the usual RPG trappings. Unfortunately, this is all accompanied by a metric ton of interminable dialogue, to the point that we actively started skipping cutscenes after the first few hours. Shame us if you will.TOP/BEST ADULT VIDEO GAMES IN UNITED STATES OF AMERICA (USA)

But we defy pretty much any player not to do the same considering the relative banality of the situations and the sheer amount of downtime where you’re simply tapping through dialogue balloon after dialogue balloon. Yes, it’s an RPG and dialogue is to be expected, but surely this could have been handled in a more graceful manner than it is here. We just wanted to get to the next bit of traversal, the next game of dodgeball. It seems prudent at this point, then, to review the actual game of dodgeball on offer in a game entirely based around it. It’s a bit of a mixed bag, unfortunately. See, while the games themselves are fast-paced and genuinely fun, you’re going to be playing a lot of them and more often than not they play out pretty much exactly the same. The core mechanics are move, throw and catch, and each of them is responsive; you throw a ball with the ‘Y’ button (holding to charge a more powerful effort) and catch incoming balls with a well-timed tap of ‘A’. The timing for the latter isn’t demanding in the slightest and you should, with some practice, find the vast majority of battles exceptionally easy. The game also offers you “Balltimate” moves which are vastly more powerful and spectacular strikes, but you won’t really need them. Variety is instilled in the back-and-forth gameplay with enemies that use differing tactics as well as dodgeball courts laced with hazards (or frozen solid).

Explore and uncover the secrets of the Dodgeball Academia across its vast, diverse, and full of life campus.

But overall the matches remain much of a muchness — inarguably enjoyable to a point, but lacking in fluidity and almost criminally basic. The rhythm of combat doesn’t change enough for our liking and whittling down your opponents’ health is just too simple. There are modifiers available to make the game harder or, bafflingly, even easier, which is a nice concession to accessibility. It’s worth mentioning that there’s a local multiplayer game here, too — naturally it’s more fun than fighting the computer, but overall it remains simplistic and slow paced — Windjammers is right there on the eShop, so… play that for a better take on similar gameplay. The map, the space wherein you are challenged by other players (rather like the trainer battles in Pokémon games) is very impressive and well laid-out. There are item chests and side quests to discover, and getting around is a breeze thanks to both the mini-map and a thoroughly speedy move that sees you tapping the ‘A’ button rhythmically to roll at speed to your destination. Disappointingly, though, the mini-map doesn’t work inside buildings, some of which are rather large and confusing. You played as either Alex or Nina, a youngster attending the Royal Academy gradually rising the ranks of the school’s varsity tennis club while earning experience points and leveling up to increase your character’s capabilities.Desperados III

Unfortunately, while this engaging mode would then be featured in the Game Boy Advance sequel, future games in the series largely dropped this story campaign to focus on their accessible multiplayer modes. This change in direction always left me disappointed in the franchise, so I was delighted to hear that Brazilian developer Pocket Trap was creating an original game heavily inspired by these older titles. While I went into Dodgeball Academia expecting an entertaining but somewhat rote experience, what I instead found was a delightful and charming title dripping with cleverly used shoutouts to classic games alongside an amusing sense of humor. Though someone familiar with the classic Camelot titles will immediately see the inspiration taken in the art style of Dodgeball Academia (though it also sports a fresh-looking aesthetic mixing goofy cartoon characters with colorful, low-poly 3D environments), the wacky tone is immediately apparent, with new students touching a magical dodgeball to gain ball-related superpowers. The biggest difference, however, is the swift nature of the sport in question. Whereas a tennis match might take ten minutes, a dodgeball game can be over in less than two. This gives Dodgeball Academia the chance to constantly mix things up by throwing new characters, powers, patterns, and even science-enhanced balls at players.

Duke it out with a friend locally in a competitive local versus mode.

The matches are quick but can be very intense as the number of balls and players on the field increases.  Even though your characters might be stronger than your opponents, they can often shock you with tricks like having their teammates trying to hit your team members from behind or just swarming you with six players at once and a veritable whirlwind of balls to try and avoid or catch. In turn, each of your teammates plays very differently. For example, hot-headed protagonist Otto plays a straightforward and aggressive game with his fire powers. In contrast, Mina performs counter-kicks rather than catching the ball and holding it. Additionally, Balloony has no elemental power, instead opting to throw balls causing multiple hits. Story-driven sports RPGs such as the early Mario Golf and Tennis games, or most recently Golf Story, have slowly come back in vogue. Brought to life with the art of veteran animator Ivan Friere and Brazilian studio Pocket Trap, Dodgeball Academia is a confident combination of Shonen anime, sports games, and Saturday morning cartoons, creating a thrilling experience to the very last match. After ditching his old school and breaking free from his controlling parents, Otto wants to prove he has what it takes to thrive at Dodgeball Academia, the premier school for the sport.AlphaLink Switch NSP

Professors of the academy initiate the new students by unlocking their extraordinary latent power. These abilities manifest after touching a magical ball, an artifact from the “Great Dodgeball War,” an event that illustrates how ingrained the sport is to this world. Think of this introductory ceremony like X-Men getting their abilities from the Sorting Hat. This amalgamation of some of the most popular tropes in modern media works well and allows the narrative to stretch its ingenuity ideas where it counts the most: on the court. Dodgeball games play out in real-time, but these games aren’t the one-hit elimination matches you might be used to from gym class. Your primary goal is to reduce the opponent’s health by pelting them with balls, a simple objective, but things get a lot more explosive thanks to the aforementioned special abilities. Over time you’ll level up characters and gain stat boosts and more augments that change how each character plays. Some students, like Otto, imbue their attacks with elemental effects, others heal their team or teammates, and some cause the ball to boomerang or curve. I’m delighted by the sense of individuality this brings to each athlete on my team and among my opponents. These differences are factors in deciding on your team of three based on their abilities and playstyles.

Unlock and upgrade unique characters, diversifying your dodgeball team through an RPG style character and party progression

I enjoyed and found success with a balanced group of an attacker, skilled defender, and support player capable of replenishing HP. One of my favorite characters can’t catch balls thrown her way and relies on a more creative method of defense. Instead, you hold the catch button and release it at the right time, and she rockets the ball back at the opponent using a baseball bat. After charging a meter throughout the match, characters can unleash their Balltimate move, a super technique that can turn the game’s tide. Otto’s Balltimate is a standard Hadoken-like fireball, support character Ballooney puts down a healing puddle, and Mina strikes opponents with deadly lightning bolts. Balltimates are unique to each character and are a significant factor in how I build my three-person team. Balltimates can be used to spam your way through matches, and I did that a few times, but I never felt like I was cheating. Any given match can go south no matter how you try to cheese the game. Matches in Dodgeball Academia offer a refreshing, if subtle, variety, which keeps the action fresh. Opposing teams have various makeups, and even the court and obstacles change from match to match. Some courts are bigger.

Some have oncoming traffic you have to dodge along with enemy attacks. Even the balls vary from battle to battle, sporting different elemental properties and shapes. I wasn’t pleased with the forest court, which obscures the view of the action by covering everything with tall blades of grass. This recurring match-type is annoying; thankfully, they only take up a small percentage of the games you’ll play. I enjoyed the day-to-day life at the academy. Some days you go to class to train in subjects such as dodging or catching through timed survival minigames; other days, you’re sent on quests by the professors. Peppered in between are matches in a schoolwide tournament to decide the best team on campus. Each day brings a fun self-contained story, with pieces that nicely culminate on the final day of the competition. Along the way, Otto and his ever-growing slate of misfit teammates have to contend with rampaging training robots, scheming classmates, and a cult of students who deeply believe dodgeballs are square-shaped. Each student in Otto’s class has their quirks and personalities you learn throughout the game’s eight chapters, and while most are antagonistic, all are enjoyable.

In a world where dodgeball is life, you join Otto at the academy and train to become the ultimate dodgeball champion. Across eight episodes, you’ll forge friendships and create rivals, all in the name of developing the best dodgeball team. Level up Otto and develop a dynamic team across a vast and customizable party progression system. All the while, explore the vast Dodgeball Academia and uncover the long hidden truths that reside within the very walls you live, learn, and dominate in. Though sports games have spent recent years implementing more RPG-like mechanics, dedicated sports RPGs are still relatively rare, with Inazuma Eleven and Golf Story as notable modern examples. However, developer Pocket Trap has added to that list with Dodgeball Academia, a title bursting to the seams with a Saturday morning cartoon charm. While the light amount of content betrays the fact that the gameplay likely lacks enough depth to carry it much further, it nonetheless provides a ten-hour story with enough humour and speedy battles that make the time fun. Dodgeball Academia follows the exploits of Otto, a new student at the eponymous school, where champions of the future are instilled with the necessary abilities and knowledge for all things dodgeball. After joining in the opening ceremony — where he receives some powers from a fabled relic of the past that still powers the academy to this day — he signs up to the school’s prestigious knockout tournament.Space Dave Switch NSP
