Reprisal Universe Free Download GAMESPACK.NET While we follow the gradual development of the game Godus from the founder of the genre Peter Molyneux, a much more modest, but faithful to the genre, piece was quietly born behind us. It’s called Reprisal Universe , and although it’s not perfect, it offers a certain amount of fun, and players will appreciate it if only because of the drought in the field of “god” games that has prevailed in recent years. In Reprisal Universe , you take on the role of a god and lead your people on a quest for revenge and the return of a land that was forcibly taken from them. It is played in real-time, with the fact that you do not control your subjects directly, but only indicate the style of their behavior, or their tendencies or goals and then you support your little autonomous ward in fulfilling these orders by creating suitable conditions. By far the largest amount of time is spent cultivating the land, which is needed to turn basic settlements into larger, more durable, and more economically rewarding cities. In addition, every now and then there will be a good opportunity to send a juicy disaster on enemy cities – for example, a devastating fire, storm or hurricane. You’ll shore up your cities’ defenses with a well-placed swamp, and when you feel your worshipers need a boost on the offensive, you’ll promote a hero. Your main goal on each of the total of 184 maps spread over 34 planets is the same – to wipe out all opponents (tribes are one to three and are controlled by the AI). Sometimes there is also a side quest where you have to get people to a special totem, which is a rather important thing. Totems expand the basic palette of divine commands, which in the full field counts a total of 15 commands in the elements of earth, fire, and air. Casting commands requires a certain amount of mana, which is produced by cities. And with that, the strategy circle of the Reprisal Universe closes. So the rules are clear and would be plenty enough to create a fun god strategy. However, the Reprisal Universe should not be troubled by two evils. The first shortcoming is the unfinished tutorial, in which the game shows you what to do and how to do it, but forgets to explain why you should do it. You will learn that the middle button on the right will make people follow you to the marked point on the map and some other information. However, you will no longer know what you will get from all this – you have to find out the effect of each step yourself. The second shortcoming of the game is the rapid onset of stereotype. Once you understand what each action does, despite the vague tutorial, you soon realize that Reprisal Universe is a fairly shallow game.

The 5 Wonder totems for maximum effect.

This is a pretty faithful reproduction of the old school game Populous, with the addition of worlds that brings in a touch of Populous: The Beginning. For new players, this is a God game. You can manipulate the land to allow your autonomous citizens to build bigger houses, generating more mana and allowing bigger God powers, such as fire, lightning and marshes. The general idea is to collect totems containing new powers and to wipe out your opponent! There are plenty of islands to keep you occupied and you are even able to partially amend the way later levels start once you complete them (this affects the islands for everyone as the changes are saved online) You don’t directly control your people. In fact there are only 3 actions they can perform: Settle (where newly ‘born’ people create buildings to increase population growth & mana rate), Gather (they head to the marker that you place as one of your powers), Fight (pick a fight nearby). Combining gather with the other two actions gives you enough control as you need. You can also force people out of houses, but this leaves the house open for invasion. The game is much harder than I expected. The AI seems to very rapidly build up it’s strength (I’m not sure how, but expect I’ll learn with time) and begins attacking early. Thay naturally also have access to God powers and can lay waste to your houses if you’re not careful. Casual Challenge Players’ Club Switch NSP

I’ve just started a world with all 4 tribes on it (apparently all against me!) and it’s pretty much chaos! Fun, but chaos! The new update has introduced the option to turn off the ‘kindle’ option (which allows you to produce people from houses early), this makes the game much more playable and less of a click frenzy. The latest update has also improved the UI in terms of allowing edge scrolling (phew). In addition there are some keyboard shortcuts but only for high level selection of the group of spells, not individual ones. Click sensitivity also seems to be a bit off, if you don’t click the upper part of the spell icon it doesn’t register. One gripe is that the ESC key turns off fullscreen mode, rather than the expected standard of opening a menu and skipping the intro (which you apparently cannot). The terrorforming tool (which you use constantly) is normally available and automatically selected (e.g. launch some fire and you switch back to terrorforming immediately), except sometimes it’s not (e.g. lay some marsh and you apparently have nothing selected). So there’s a bit of inconcistency which may just be a bug that gets fixed later (hopefully). The graphics are simple pixel art, but nice to look at, check out the pics & video! It can be unclear at times exactly which square your cursor is on, due to its shape, and as a result launching powers at exact points can be tricky (although exact aim doesn’t really matter *that* much.

Spans over 34 planets and 184 islands pitting you against 3 other tribes

You also get access to different terrain types which each come with their own unique features. For example, I visited one land where regular earthquakes caused chaos for every faction at preset intervals. This all helps to keep Reprisal Universe exciting even when it begins to feel derivative. The art style of Reprisal Universe is 16-bit, but unfortunately it has a glaring absence of music to back it up. Visually it’s quite basic and some may find this to be a problem but if you don’t mind using your imagination a little then you’ll find some charming aesthetics here, particularly the tilt-shift effect that lends to the idea that you are much larger than the citizens of this little world. Altogether it looks acceptable but if you like a soundtrack with your deity simulators you’re out of luck. Reprisal Universe is an interesting homage to god games of old (and Populous most of all). In this role it generally achieves its goals and manages to be an enjoyable entry in the genre. That said there are a few problems; basic visuals, the absence of music and some easily defeated AI make for a small list of disappointments that may be too much of an issue for some players. That said, if a relaxing, laid back god game with an interesting atmosphere and a whole lot of content appeal then Reprisal Universe is definitely worth a look. Catmaze Switch NSP

You repeat the same actions over and over and soon you will be behaving like robots, which is true for experienced players, and over time even casual players will come to this conclusion. Fighters seasoned by strategic battles in Populous will not take anything from Reprisal Universe , as they will discover during several battles that their progress towards the goal always depends on the ability to estimate the right moment to switch the people from settlement mode to war mode. Alternatively, they will be discouraged by the fact that some game elements (for example, the promotion of heroes) do not work nearly as well as they expected – the heroes are weak learners, so the price/performance ratio does not match at all. Thus, occasional players could enjoy Reprisal Universe. One game cannot be denied – it drains well and there is always something to do at the beginning of each map (you cultivate the land until you smoke). Reprisal Universe also enchants with its 16-bit graphics and decent controls, which also last for a few hours of fun. But in order to enjoy Reprisal Universe for a long time, one must not expect complex gameplay and should forget about devising subtle strategies, because it will not lead to anything. In short, Reprisal Universe is a solid homage to Populous and god strategies in general, but it becomes clear all too soon that the game has nothing else to offer.

Help Thallos guide and rescue his people.

The game provides a largely text based narrative to help set the scene for the gameplay. You need to guide your people to victory and help them reclaim their lost lands. Small, text based storytelling segments break up the game as you proceed but these are little more than a frame for your deific exploits. After entering a name for your profile you’ll be thrust into your first mission. The difficulty is relaxed to begin with and a minimalist tutorial will guide you through the basics. There are no walls of text here and the tutorial uses a light touch to ensure that it doesn’t get in the way of the gameplay. As is often the case with the most elegantly crafted tutorials, you won’t notice the transition from the introductory levels to the meat of the game. As with most god games, you don’t take direct control of your units like you would with a conventional strategy game. Instead you can set waypoints, provide mandates (such as gathering or battle) and manipulate the environment to make large scale tasks easier for your population. You don’t tell a specific unit to build a house; instead you set building as an objective and then raise land from the ocean so your units can spread out to expand your cities. Powers are unlocked when you access totems scattered through the levels. Chained Echoes Switch NSP

crolling is rough (keyboard tapping required, or a newly introduce mouse scroll which still needs some work. This is a negative but the dev is working to improve the overall experience so a plus for me.) Map visibility is limited (this is a negative, but it is an homage to the retro Populas UI. There are some differences. Some find this frustrating. I can let it go.) The only item that is a real negative for me, the author has committed to working on a fix. (The most likely is center-mouse-button-click-and-drag to move the camera around.) So I don’t really have any problems with the game. I’d give it a 8.5/10 personally. And, I expect further development will be done to address remaining issues. If you’re looking for the spiritual successor to Populas, or just looking for a God game to scratch that itch… Learn to control the 15 totem powers, upgrading them as you explore and harness the 5 Wonder totems for maximum effect. In this Universe you won’t be alone, other explorers will be present helping you to uncover items and leaving their own legacies on islands you will explore. Reprisal Universe – a further iteration of “Reprisal” (which made our honorable mentions for 2012 when it was strictly an HTML5 title) is a bold attempt at injecting new life into the god game sub-genre of the real-time strategy. Reviving many of the concepts which Populous brought to our screens back in the late 80s, Reprisal Universe puts you in the role of a deity, guiding a population in their struggle against rival factions.

It’s been some time since the last strong entry in the genre so how good a job does Reprisal Universe do of dragging the god game out of hibernation? Buy this, it’ll be a number of hours of retro fun. (If retro is not your thing, give it a pass… but I’m telling you, you’re missing out.) If you’re craving a God game that is a spiritual successor to the 1980s hit “Populas”, then Reprisal Universe is what you’re looking for. First, and most importantly, the programmer is actively monitoring for feedback and tweaking the game to improve the overall experience. Secondly, it provides interesting innovations that warrant grabbing this instead of just going back and playing the original Populas game.  Third, and most important, it’s not by Peter Molyneux. (That may seem like the least important element, but go give Godus a look over and really dig into the commitment and how many of those commitments have been broken– then come back and compare against this game where the developer is actively engaged with his community. The difference is night and day.)
