Wizorb Switch NSP Free Download GAMESPACK.NET Wizorb is a Breakout-style action RPG. The classic paddle and ball gameplay of Breakout and Pong returns with a few modern enhancements. The goal, like in Breakout, is simply to clear the screen of all obstacles and enemies without losing the ball. The big shakeup here is Cyrus’s magic meter. As Cyrus breaks blocks he collects vials of magic potion which can be used to cast spells, manipulating the ball and surrounding obstacles. Wizorb’s stage designs tend to lead to a slower overall game speed, with blocks that can tank multiple hits, unbreakable obstacles, mobile enemies, and status-affecting curses. The magic system attempts to counterbalance this design, but the meter is far too limited to make a substantial impact. Stages tend to drag on because of this as the ball loops the arena repeatedly missing some ill-placed bricks. Progression is further held back by the lives system. Players start with 4 balls and 3 total continues per world, if the balls run out, the player will have to redo the entire world from the beginning. This feels absurdly punishing considering worlds can take 40+ minutes to complete. TOP/BEST ADULT VIDEO GAMES IN UNITED STATES OF AMERICA (USA)

I feel single-stage progression would’ve worked much better for a game with such an arcade-esque gameplay loop. Overall the gameplay suffers from a slow pace, combined with a low level of interaction from the player, leading to a lot of frustration. For a game so dependent on precision movement it’s clear console controllers aren’t the most effective control scheme. It’s always admirable to see developers go back to their roots and pay homage to some of their earliest works. Tribute Games have made a name for themselves with releases such as Flinthook, Steel Assault, and the recent TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge but their catalog dates back much further. Now, 11 years after its initial release Tribute Games presents Wizorb for Nintendo Switch. Is this title their unsung magnum opus or was it better left as a footnote in the developer’s history? Cursed by demons, the kingdom of Gerudo is in great peril. Their knight in shining armor, Owain, never returned from his noble quest. All hope seemed to be lost until Master Wizard Cyrus arrived.

Over 60 levels in 5 different Worlds.

Using the art of Wizorb it is up to him to fend off the demon invasion and perhaps uncover the truth behind what became of Owain. The plot plays off familiar fantasy tropes with some light twists to complement the gameplay, but there’s really nothing standout about it. Gameplay comes first here, so you won’t find much development of the plot until the very end. Outside of questing, Cyrus can return to the Gerudo kingdom to help citizens rebuild. In-game currency can fund houses, landmarks, and other local services. These don’t have much of a gameplay function unfortunately and act more as a completion goal. I found that the money is better spent on upgrades during the campaign. Wizorb’s presentation also embraces a retro style. The game’s sprite work is reminiscent of Super Nintendo RPGs, with an extra colorful and goofy shtick. Players will travel through abandoned towns, dense forests, dark mines, corrupt castles, and demonic netherworlds. While not the most original art style, everything is well-animated and easy on the eyes. The sound design on the other hand doesn’t leave much of an impression. Train Valley 2

Sound effects include the same generic beeps and boops heard in just about every retro-inspired title and the soundtrack never quite hits its stride. As I said, the remarkable visuals and animations immediately stand out. They’re a great introduction to Wizorb, which comes off feeling like a celebration of the 16-bit generation. Between the art, the attention to detail in the user interface and menus, and even the soundtrack, this is professional-grade quality. You play a Wizard who must earn money to rebuild a devastated town by completing levels. Interestingly, you’re able to walk around and interact with citizens of the village in typical RPG fashion. While this part of Wizorb is charming — and you’re rewarded with perks for your generosity, so it’s not a total waste of time — it does ultimately feel unnecessary. Little of your in-game time will be spent messing around here. Instead, the in-level action takes the form of Breakout. Stages are broken up into 12 individual levels where the win condition is clearing all breakable blocks and dispatching enemies. You aren’t simply using a paddle and ball, though — you’ve got magic, too.

Epic boss fights.

There are a handful of spells, such as an upward fireball attack, the ability to manually place the ball on the field, and a gust of wind that can shift movement left or right, to name a few. As helpful as these are, you only have a limited amount of energy and can’t always fall back on using them. Collectable potions and a few other methods do replenish your reserves, however. It’s only been a few months since the internet was buzzing about the PS Mini service, because of the release of FuturLab’s fantastic title, Velocity. Well, Sony wants to keep the overlooked service on your mind with Tribute Games and Beatshapers’ latest release. Throwing the block-busting mechanics of old-school classics like Arkanoid and Breakout into a giant cast-iron cauldron and mixing them together with a handful of the great 8-bit NES RPG classics could potentially create an Arkanoid clone to warm the hearts of nostalgic fans; that’s exactly what they’ve done, and their creation is called Wizorb. Indie gaming fans will undoubtedly have already heard of Wizorb, as it’s been available on PC via Steam for months now. But PlayStation fans are no stranger to the Beatshapers’ name either. As they’ve helped bring several hit indie titles like Canabalt and Enigmo to the PS Mini service, as well as the recent Vita title, StarDrone Extreme. With Wizorb, they’ve brought us a title that takes very old gameplay formulas, and mixes them together in such a way that makes them fun, fresh and bursting with nostalgic charm at the same time. We find ourselves stepping foot into a small destroyed town as an elderly wizard, named Cyrus. The once peaceful Kingdom of Gorudo has been ransacked by an evil force, and only with Cyrus’ skill in the magical art of Wizorb, can this once peaceful nation return to its former glory. Even with the dilapidated buildings and denizens asking for your help to rebuild their town – via gold donations – the charming 8-bit visuals and lively chip tunes warm the heart for those who enjoy a bit of nostalgia. The town of Tarot would easily fit right in with those beloved towns that are tucked away inside the grey shells of NES cartridges. It’s a pleasing and unexpected setting for a game such as this. By setting off to explore the five worlds throughout the kingdom, you’ll gain the gold necessary to rebuild this once lovely place; gaining valuable bonuses that you’ll need to help out along the way.

Use your magic wand to bounce the orb and cast various magic spells.

While typical RPG’s find you hacking and slashing through dungeons (worlds), you’ll instead find Cyrus magically transforming himself into an orb and wand (paddle). In typical Arkanoid fashion, you’ll bounce the orb around each level to destroy all the blocks to progress further into each world. But there’s a reason that you’re not using a simple paddle here, as the wand grants you the ability to cast a variety of magical spells. A simple fireball cost little magic and can help take out blocks and a small wind burst can change the orbs direction during flight. But, powerful spells allow you to set the orb ablaze, destroying nearly anything in its path for a limited time, as well as allowing you to place the orb anywhere onscreen after losing a life. Stronger spells will cost you significantly more magic to perform and should be used strategically and sparingly. The blocks aren’t just for breaking, as they also hold all sorts of goodies to help along the way. Of course, gold is what every adventurer desires and there’s bags of it to be had, but potions to refill your magic gauge also come bursting out at times too.

In typical RPG fashion, wooden chests hold the most valuable of items, like keys and hearts (extra life). But, what do we need keys for in this type of game? Well, if you’ve got a key handy and come across a stage with a locked door, you’ll either find yourself inside a store to buy all sorts of additional powers (e.g. multiball, larger wands, etc.) and items, or inside a hidden room full of valuables floating around in bubbles, simply begging to be popped. With all these powers and items, it might seem like the game would be a bit on the easier side of the difficulty spectrum, but that’s far from true. Enemies lurk throughout the worlds and level design becomes increasingly difficult the further you progress. Many later levels feature enemies that can block/divert forward attacks, and level design places unbreakable blocks in such ways that create narrow gaps that require precision shots and magic use to properly navigate. While this could be a turnoff for some, the fantastic paddle controls and skills available mean that the stiff challenges can be overcome by those who put forth the effort.

The effort is worth it too, seeing how each of the five worlds features its own giant boss to takedown. These bosses feature fantastic 8-bit styled sprites, and if it wasn’t for the orb and wand onscreen, they’d likely fit perfectly inside a The Legend of Zelda title. Considering each world also brings its own unique set of visuals, chip tunes and enemy sprites along with them, you’ll definitely want to visit them all. It is one where the distinction between recommending it and saying it isn’t worth it is hard. The visuals are very nice, considering they are done by paul robertson, this is a given. The gameplay itself is where the issues fall. You have magic powers, such as the ability to teleport the ball or control where it floats. While these powers are nice, the game is incredibly difficult. Blocks which need to be broken are almost always behind unbreakable objects and the further you venture into the game, the more often this occurs. If you enjoy a challenge and like brick breaking games, go for it if this game is on a good sale. I enjoyed the challenge of the game so I give it my approval, but this game is definately not for everyone. No Place for Bravery Switch NSP
