Slide Stars Switch NSP Free Download GAMESPACK.NET Slide Stars is so painfully close to being a competent game it hurts. Everything is stacked against it. It takes 20+ social media influencers and places them on a water slide for you to complete without causing too many crashes and collecting various stars on your way. Some good ideas are marred by weird level design, inconsistent controls and a slightly bitter taste in your mouth from the characters themselves. Played with either 1 or 2 players, Slide Stars is a Wipeout styled obstacle course. You choose your character and rubber float and take the slide. Moving the left stick moves your character and increases speed and then you can jump and spin to leap over obstacles and hazards. A lot of the game revolves around momentum. Get enough speed and you’ll fly far and that can open up various different paths to reach the end of the level. Doing so will give you some coins to buy customisation items and each level has three goals to achieve. These give you level upgrades which unlock new characters. You also have star segments across each level which if you collect them all will also unlock things too. TOP/BEST ADULT VIDEO GAMES IN UNITED STATES OF AMERICA (USA)

The 26 levels are a weird mix of different difficulties and challenges. Some are open and flowing, others are tight and like a minefield. The open and flowing levels don’t last for long though as the controls become a bit iffy. The jumping is hugely inconsistent as you either move hugely forward, nothing at all or just a tiny dribble. It makes being precise nearly impossible and when that is required in the last couple of levels, it is infuriating. There is a level with some water wheels on it and trying to jump from wheel to wheel is more luck than judgement. This floaty or everything control scheme is made more annoying by various water jets. These send you blasting off at high speed but then as soon as you are out of range, you seem to stop moving automatically unless you are trying to push yourself forward – in mid air. It is confusing and even after I had completed the game I still didn’t feel like I had grasped how the physics really worked in the game. The level design doesn’t help this either.  Often low ceilings mean you hit your head on them and fall off the float.

Play as Brent Rivera, Demi Rose, Ben Azelart or one of the other international super stars!

The same issue applies to slide and flips – they don’t really line up in a satisfying way. The result means each level is a stop and start affair. There is little flow and the difficulty doesn’t rise either, it seems to flip flop from level to level. There are also boss levels at the end of the two worlds but you don’t actually do anything with them. The octopus just throws his tentacles about and stares at you… then submerges and you float passed it. A missed opportunity. The other really off-putting vibe is the way the social media influencers are placed in the game. All the girls (and most of the guys) are really skimpily clad whilst Instagram quotes like ‘believe in yourself’ pass by the bottom of the screen. ‘Have a healthy diet!’ says another. None of these ‘celebs’ have anything worthwhile saying and their profile is all about pushing the gamer to their social media pages. Its a weird barrage of extreme positivity without actually saying anything at all – whilst posing in a bikini or shorts looking improbably toned. The target audience for this game is their tween market and it just doesn’t sit quite right. We just wanted to play as Holly H really. Kamiwaza Way of the Thief Switch NSP

The gregarious 20-something TikTok-er from Guernsey stars alongside several other influencers in this irreverent Trials-style platformer, but she requires 46 tokens to unlock and we’re rubbish at the game. So, we spent several hours playing as a Hungarian cosplayer, avoiding dynamite being tossed at us by monkeys – all while straddling an inflatable hot sauce bottle! Then we experienced an existential crisis, before returning to reality and writing this review. That hot sauce bottle, by the way, ejaculates liquid inferno everywhere, as you commandeer it down rapids and ruins in mildly Mayan (?) environments. We felt a little bit sorry for Sveta Bilyalova – a model from Russia, apparently – as we accidentally capsized the tractor tire we assigned as her vehicle, but Veronica Bielik came off worst: we fed her to an alligator while she was sitting on a strawberry. Sorry about that V. Slide Stars is actually not all that bad, it’s just hard as nails. The gameplay sees you precariously balancing your rider, and depending on whether you’re piloting an oversized coin or a baby turtle, every vehicle controls slightly differently. The social media superstars each have different specialties, whether it’s gaming, fashion, or travel, and thus can inexplicably open up different paths in the stages, unlocking secrets and shortcuts along the way.

Perform crazy stunts and get some airtime to increase your score!

And yet despite its inclusion of uplifting yet ultimately vapid inspirational statements, the whole thing comes across as cynical to us. The developer’s dreamed up an agreeable yet largely mediocre Trials clone and stroked the egos of a bunch of influencers in order to give it a cast of characters that a terrifying number of children will be attracted to. On the one hand, you’ve got to respect the hustle of the studio, finding a way to make its otherwise unremarkable title stand out from the crowd. On the other hand, Holly H has to be unlocked, and we’re not sure we’ll ever forgive for the company for that. Is it all bad though? Not at all – and that is what makes it painful. The concept is quite fun in principle and there is a neat game mechanic in the levels too. Each level has multiple paths which are opened up by matching the influencers area of content to the level. So a level may have fitness, music and fashion gates and you’ll only unlock those additional routes by using characters who have those traits. This is most useful for collecting the star fragments and it offers replayability. Outside of that though, this is a tepid game that is more focused on the influencer product placement than actually being a great game. I honestly have no idea why I agreed to review Slide Stars. I guess I was willing to give something a shot, or maybe I was looking for something that I thought would be a game I could make fun of, but in the end, I ended up just being very meh on both the game and the idea that I had. Sure, this is a Trials ripoff that features “influencers” while it attempts some strange motivational aspect for some odd reason, and that sounds like something I could make fun of for a cheeky review. Instead, I just feel rather empty after putting a few hours into it. So, here goes nothing, and I do mean nothing. As I said before, Slide Stars is essentially a Trials style game. Players take on the role of multiple influencers that I honestly have never heard of before. Granted, I’m a 35 year old that is right on the cusp of Gen Xer/Millennial so I get a lot of pop culture stuff, but the brand new stuff/people are beyond me. Players must traverse a water slide level while riding on a flotation device (giant banana, flamingo float, pinata, etc.) while trying not to wipe out. Players can rotate their character on a 2D plane to pull off tricks and make jumps using a stored-power ollie kind of jump. Players are trying to make it to the end of each level while trying to get a good time, collecting items that play as currency, and gain “likes” based on how well they do. Yep.

Challenge yourself by completing each level in multiple ways, unlock hidden tracks and earn special medals!

I said “gain likes” because, of course, you do. Some levels vary in the direction players go or what route they take. Usually, a new route will take them to a separate area with a collectable. Along with that, there are hazards to avoid like alligators in the water or the like. Players earn medals after completing a level, and gain more based on how fast they complete it and by not wiping out. It’s your standard fare with these kinds of games. What’s not the standard fare is the fact that while it imitates Trials, it doesn’t have the controls of Trials. Trials is a deliberate, meticulous game that requires good reflexes and careful movement to succeed. Slide Stars feels far too floaty in the jumps and the rotation to do anything with any real precision. On top of that, many levels have parts that force the player forward, so trying to make meticulous jumps gets hindered. One thing Trials does great is the instant restart. Slide Stars takes just long enough after a fail that I started to get frustrated with how long it took for me to reload just to fail at the same hazard yet again. Players can use the currency earned in the levels to unlock new characters and new floats to use.

One thing I do have to mention is the floats that the characters stand on maneuver way better than the ones they sit on, but let’s be honest, I’m giving advice that no one reading this review will ever use. It has a cartoony art style, and with only two themes for the levels, they all begin to blend in with each other. The characters look sort of like the actual people they are based on, I guess. Some more than others. I did my research. I looked up every single character in the game just to be sure these people actually existed. They all do, and luckily for me, the game even gives their social media handles right in their bios. Even after looking these people up, I still have no idea who they are. I feel like I’ve typed more about Slide Stars than I probably should have. It’s a short-lived clunky game that is priced at a whopping 40 bucks. No way would I pay that for this game. This is an eight dollar experience at best. While it’s never broken, it is never something I found myself wanting to complete. In fact, I don’t see the proper audience for this at all. Obviously someone younger than me, but good luck getting a kid to play this one for longer than about 10 minutes.
