Ridge Racer Unbounded Free Download GAMESPACK.NET Let’s get it out of the way at the top of the show. Ridge Racer Unbounded is Ridge Racer in name only. This game has about as much in common with Ridge Racer as Forza 4, or Hot Pursuit, or any other racer you’d care to name. As such, you can forget about ludicrously over-the-top powerslide mechanics. You can also forget about gleaming cities, winding mountain paths and beachside runs under an azure sky. About the only thing you can depend on is a suitably ravey soundtrack, with a number of old Ridge Racer tracks, as well as the now obligatory dubstep. None of this is necessarily a bad thing, however. As much as I love Ridge Racer, the series has been steadily losing its relevance and vitality, so a kick in the pants was definitely in order. It is interesting, however, that Namco Bandai appears to have given Finnish developer Bugbear carte blanche to disregard pretty much everything that made Ridge Racer Ridge Racer. No matter, judged on its own merits this is a great racing game. Unsurprisingly, Ridge Racer Unbounded shares a great deal of DNA with Bugbear’s well-respected racing series FlatOut. The handling is similarly weighty, the courses littered with destructible elements. TOP/BEST ADULT VIDEO GAMES IN UNITED STATES OF AMERICA (USA)

The racing combative and the challenge just about pitch perfect. Bugbear has taken all its greatest strengths and honed them, creating its best racer yet. The game’s single player component is set within one city – Shatter Bay, so the environments are resolutely urban throughout. Whether you’re racing amongst the skyscrapers of City Center, through the construction sites of Tower Heights or along the derelict industrial streets of Old Town, it’s all about city racing. Unbounded is at its best when the racing is combative, the action rough and tumble. Of all the race types on offer, Domination exemplifies this the most and is by far the highlight. Domination races are about more than just finishing in the top three, they’re also about taking down – or ‘fragging’ – other racers, doing collateral damage to the world around you, triggering explosive events and earning awards. The level of destructibility in Unbounded is hugely impressive, and definitely a step up from anything other racers have done. The general rule of thumb? If it’s smaller than your vehicle, chances are you can drive through it.

Low walls, concrete support beams, statues in the town square and kiosks can all be smashed straight through. Drifting sideways through a series of low walls as you cut a corner tight is ridiculously satisfying, with the brickwork practically exploding on impact, accompanied by chunky impactful sound effects. And that’s just the beginning. Once you’ve filled your power meter – by drifting, drafting and catching air, the game starts highlighting targets on the course. It might point out a tanker truck, just begging to be blown sky high, or a wall that you can crash through to take a short cut. Just line yourself up and use your power meter for a sustained speed boost to crash through these targets. Boosting is also used to frag other cars (although it’s still possible to do take-downs without it), and pretty much everything you do comes with a reward. In fact, more than anything else, Unbounded is about points. You get points for coming in the top three, you get points for fragging other cars, doing collateral damage, triggering events and earning awards. You’ll get 15,000 points for coming first in a race, but for most of the Domination events that’s less than half what you should wind up with. As you earn points in each district you unlock new races. The Darkest Tales Switch NSP

And as you earn points (in any part of the game) you also earn XP and rank up, which unlocks new cars and components for the course editor. It’s great stuff, and the points system ties neatly into the game’s focus on spectacle. Not only is it cool to barge another car into oblivion, but you’re rewarded for it. Not only is it kick-ass to drive through a courthouse, but you’re rewarded for it. And then there are the 30-40 awards per course too. These are mini-achievements that can be anything from drifting for a certain length of time or hitting a certain speed, to triggering events or fragging opponents in different ways. Earning awards also fills your power meter, so it’s not uncommon to chain together a whole sequence of take-downs and destruction. Domination events are definitely challenging. It’s not uncommon to have several cracks at a race before you place in the top three, but you’ll be compelled to do so, and even once you’ve ‘dominated’ that event, chances are you’ll still feel the urge to revisit it and try for a higher score. Ridge Racer Unbounded features a varied car selection that ranges from ultra-sleek sports cars to powerful vintage muscle cars, each with different speed, acceleration, handling, strength, and drifting capabilities.

Crash through everything.

These cars are , of course, unlicensed as they get absolutely wrecked as you bulldoze your way through the city—vehicle manufacturers aren’t too keen on seeing their luxury rides decimated in video game form. The cars are gorgeous, as are the dense urban environments in which they race. Shatter Bay’s many districts are high-detailed and destructible locations (with some beautiful lighting effects) that just entice you to race one more match. When you fire up Ridge Racer Unbounded, you can only select one car and race district, but others are unlocked as you accumulate collateral damage points. These points are gathered by plowing through anything other than a solid brick wall. There are, however, a few highlighted structures that you wouldn’t normally plow through—such as the aforementioned brick walls—until you build your Power meter, which acts as a speed boost (with cool accompanying light trails). Not only can you do big damage to the environment (and score big points) by blazing through stores to reveal alternate routes or ramps, but you can also knock other cars off the road in dramatic fashion (“frags”), Burnout style. Frags—along with catching big air (sometimes off rooftops!) and destroying structures—give you additional Power meter points. City Creator, a new feature to the series, lets players design, and name tracks. An easy-to-use in-game tool lets you drop track sections on a grid, and then populate the track with ramps, sand traps, and other obstacles. I encountered some truly creative tracks, especially Hellbent666, which had ramps and obstacles everywhere—as well as many an explosion opportunity. A number of options let you select the race style (Frag Attack, Domination, and more), the time of day, number of cars, vehicle class, and more. After creating your city, you can share online. The one downside here is that you can’t upload a track until you’ve built six racing events within your city. That was a bummer. The latest title in the RIDGE RACER franchise, RIDGE RACER Unbounded gears up to carve its own destructive path with a new breed of arcade racing. RIDGE RACER Unbounded brings an unexpected dimension to the series, delivering an original blast of ferocious racing adrenaline. Join the Unbounded street racing gang, lead by Kara Shindo, and test your driving skills against rivals in every street and alley of Shatter Bay.

Race in urban environments.

Prove your worth, get respect and expand your turf. Refreshing a long-standing games franchise is always a notoriously delicate business and, true to form, Ridge Racer Unbounded has divided opinion. It’s easy to see why: surely no game has adhered more rigidly to an unbending formula through countless iterations than Ridge Racer, the archetypal Japanese drift-racer. Ridge Racer Unbounded keeps the drifting but dumps everything else – especially the long, wide, generally elevated tracks and the stubborn refusal to countenance any form of damage to cars or environment. If you find that upsetting, don’t buy it. But you’ll be missing out on the most compelling version of the game since the original. There’s another reason why Ridge Racer Unbounded has left some critics nonplussed: it’s one of those rare games that refuses to pander to your ego. The first time you launch it, just one race is unlocked, and even in that the computer-controlled opponents’ AI is cranked up to near-human levels of fiendishness. The aim of each race is to finish in the top three – you’re awarded between one and three stars if you do so – but you swiftly learn that there are plenty of rewards to be had even if you trail around at the back of the field.

Ridge Racer Unbounded takes many cues from Burnout and Split/Second. You have a Power meter that can be filled by drifting, catching air or slipstreaming cars, and when you deploy it, you don’t just get a speed boost but will be able to take out other cars for its duration (which is denoted by two red slipstream tracks). Or you can head to points that the game points out, press it, and you will reshape the scenery, opening up shortcuts and generally causing carnage. Even without hitting the Power button, you can take out pretty much anything that is smaller than your car, such as concrete pillars, entire petrol stations and so on. Game modes are plentiful, varied and fun. There are so-called Shindo races, in which you can’t take out other cars on the Power button, but which still include a speed-boost earned by drifting – the best way to win those is to treat them like conventional races and brake for corners rather than inducing drifts with the handbrake. Frag races invite you to destroy as many cop cars as possible within a given time, at the wheel of a truck. In Drift races, you earn extended time on the track by pulling off spectacular drifts, and Time Attack puts you on some insane stunt courses, studded with time-extending tokens.

Unprecedentedly, there’s not a duff mode among them. Shatter Bay, the fictional city in which Ridge Racer Unbounded takes place, is also glorious: a veritable toy box of destructibility with bags of character (and a few subtle nods to Ridge Racers of yore). And the single-player game’s structure is impeccable: you open up new areas of the city (there are seven) by winning stars, but even if you end up well behind the top three, you still win points for trashing buildings, fragging cars, pulling off extra-long drifts and the like. Cutting edge physics and effects combine to bring direct destruction like you’ve never seen before. Unleash your rage to obliterate everything in your way and carve your own path. Shatter Bay lives by its own rules and is ripe for being torn apart by the overpowered vehicles rampaging through its many areas, including the commercial zone, refinery, port, and high-rise construction site. Traditional racing machines are out and dozens of badass street machines are in, including the legendary RIDGE RACER Angel and Devil cars. I feel it’s important to state up front that some reviews of Ridge Racer Unbounded will be a cautionary tale for developers about the importance of including a tutorial.  Unravel Two
