Mario Kart Live Home Circuit Free Download GAMESPACK.NET There are moments in some games that instantly bring a smile to my face, transporting me back to my childhood while the rest of the world melts into the background. That’s what taking control of Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit’s augmented reality RC kart for the first time felt like. The joy of driving around my living space from a worm’s-eye view while familiar Mario characters zoom by and Koopa Shells fly across the screen is refreshingly different – at least when everything is running smoothly. All too often, frustrating technical limitations can throw a banana peel into the works. Mario Kart Live is a wild hybrid mix of a traditional Mario Kart video game and a physical, remote-controlled toy. You use your Switch to control an actual RC car around tracks you set up in your own home, viewing the action through the car’s camera. Each course is made by placing the four included cardboard gates (no more, no less) which the camera on the car reads as you go through each one in order, but any additional loops and turns you take along the way are entirely up to you. An augmented version of that camera feed is displayed on the Switch itself, overlaying 3D item boxes, opposing AI racers, and all the other things you might expect from a regular Mario Kart game.TOP/BEST ADULT VIDEO GAMES IN UNITED STATES OF AMERICA (USA)

It’s incredibly novel, though not always as smooth as that sounds. Setting up Mario Kart Live for the first time is a delightfully simple process. All you have to do is point the kart’s camera toward a QR code on your screen, spend some time learning its controls, and set up the cardboard gates. This tutorial phase takes just a few moments, but I found myself taking my time with each step – not because I needed more driving practice, but because it was so freaking cool to zip Mario around my living room, through my kitchen, and under my sofa as my cat playfully followed this strange new device. It’s genuinely magical even before you set up your first real course. Bringing a race track to life requires an ample amount of space and has some restrictions in order to maintain a good connection. Nintendo recommends a room of 15 x 15 max and 10 x 12 for 150 CC speed with the kart never going more than five meters away from your Switch. The console and kart are connected through Wi-Fi, so if you have slow internet speeds you could run into problems. That said, most of the connection issues I had were limited to being too far from the Switch – or one time from having the course gates separated by walls, which Nintendo does not recommend doing for this very reason.

My Apartment Grand Prix.

Occasionally the framerate could drop while at long distances, and I had a few anomalies where the on-screen gameplay would halt and then skip ahead to where the real-life kart actually was. These issues weren’t common enough to be a major concern, but when they did happen it served as a harsh reminder of the practical limitations of this otherwise impressive technology.Nintendo products have always had a certain magic about them. From the earliest examples, such as the simplistic-yet-addictive Game & Watch handhelds, to more recent offerings like the motion-driven Wii, touch-focused DS or cardboard-based Labo, the Japanese veteran has a genuine knack for creating toys which raise a smile by simply taking existing concepts and turning them into something new or unexpected. Few could have anticipated that Nintendo would take its million-selling Mario Kart series and bring it into the real world using remote control vehicles, but the first time you sit down and play Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit, it feels simultaneously natural and pleasantly surprising all at once.Pokemon Brilliant Diamond

The concept is relatively simple, but we’d imagine the tech which powers it – courtesy of start-up Velan Studios, which also did much of the heavy-lifting from a software development perspective – is quite advanced. Essentially, you’re controlling an RC car using your Switch, with a live feed being displayed on the console’s screen (or the TV when playing docked). A camera situated on the top of the car delivers said feed to your screen, while the Switch itself overlays virtual elements such as other racers, item boxes, red shells and trackside obstacles. Using a series of four cardboard gates (Nintendo is clearly putting those Labo production lines to good work here), you can build a track that’s totally unique. The initial setup is a breeze; you pair the car with your Switch using an on-screen QR code and the car’s camera, and, after familiarising yourself with the controls in the game’s ‘Explore’ mode, you can craft your circuit by ‘painting’ the course on-screen and driving through the four gates in order (optional arrow panels can be added to guide you around the less-obvious parts of your circuit).

The Space Race.

While the gates are integral to the track design, you’re free to snake the actual course in quite complex patterns, even having it overlapping with other parts of the circuit – a fact which allows you to produce quite demanding courses even in small rooms. Once you’ve made your circuit, you can take part in the Grand Prix mode where your aim is to accrue the most points from three races (there are 24 ‘tracks’ in total, split across various three-race GP events). While the track design is largely set in stone until you decided to rearrange it, each race is given a different flavour via the course-specific selection of gates, which can offer either item boxes, boosts or hazards, trackside obstacles (tornadoes which blow you off-course or even enemies which freeze your car for a brief period) and environmental effects (one course has a strong cross-wind which not only pushes your car in a certain direction but also blows coins and item boxes across the track). They finally did it. Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit is everything we hoped it could be, with a few caveats, and it’s easy to wonder why it hadn’t been done sooner.Mario Party Superstars

However, a close look at AR toys at this price point (and higher) over the last few years shows us exactly why this level of stability and the sheer number of components within this virtual world has only recently been possible. It’s a slightly jagged step forwards for cheaper augmented reality play, then, but one that has earned its rare failings with some considerable horsepower in the overall experience. Even though this is arguably a spin-off from the main Mario Kart series, you’re still getting the full experience in here, with a series of 8 cups (and a random course generator), each offering three courses. Race or do time trials to gather coins and unlock more kart skins, costumes, themes, sounds, and race speeds. To begin a race, you’ll first need to arrange your four gates and drive the course. This is then painted onto your map and you’re ready to start karting. It’s a simple system that works well enough for its quick play purposes. You’ll find the drawn out course sometimes begins to shift slightly in its AR in-race rendering, sometimes skipping gates altogether, and leaving AI opponents flying into the lead while you dutifully navigate that hairpin turn you (for some reason) decided to put in.

Indoor Skidding.

This only really becomes a problem in race mode, but there are other game modes that see less of this issue. Pass and play time trials, however, are the best way to play Mario Kart Live: Home Tour. It’s probably the best way to get close to multiplayer right now (considering you need two $100 carts to play and finding stock will be a challenge for some). Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit comes in two iterations, a red Mario car and a green Luigi one. These differences have little in-game effect other than your onscreen character, and both cars feature an overhead camera, USB-C charging port, and a small ‘ignition’ button. Alongside your chosen car you’ll also find four cardboard gates and two directional arrows. If you’ve been scarred by Nintendo Labo projects in the past, there’s little to fear here. Setup is super easy, with the legs of each gate folding in and out for quick placement and even quicker tidying away (a bonus if the thought of gathering everything back up again is enough to keep your new toy in its box). The cardboard never felt flimsy, and while you’ll need to weigh down the feet of each gate with a few books, it all feels like part of the creative fun.

In fact, everything feels surprisingly well produced, and survives plenty of adventures in and out of its packaging. The game itself uses the AR signatures on the gates to render individual level themes, enemies, powerups, and obstacles – all done largely through colored overlays and decor over each gate. These decorative overlays sometimes offer up convincing game world experiences, but other times they can just feel superfluous to the game itself. I’m fortunate enough to have a pretty spacious communal area in my apartment which gave me a lot of options for setting up different tracks. When pushing Mario Kart Live to its absolute limits, I was able to create a course that was 112 feet long – though some frame drops did occur since I had it weaving around my open living room and kitchen space as well as the adjacent hallway. My favorite course was 80 feet long and had a figure-eight design that went from the living room to the kitchen, looped around the island, went behind the sofa, and finally cut behind the couch to close the loop. It was fun to drive, though it wasn’t just the layout that left me beaming but all the extras I decorated it with.

I made it a Halloween-themed course with pumpkins, ghosts, candy, and plastic cups meaningfully placed throughout for a manageably chaotic challenge. And when combined with all the in-game magic of Rainbow Road-style ring boosts and Piranha plant infested gates it was a thrill to drive through. On the opposite end of the spectrum was the track I made in my admittedly large but extremely crowded with furniture bedroom. In contrast to the more spacious living room, there was only a small perimeter around the two desks in this room where a track could fit. This 36-foot track did work, but it also left zero options for course variation and additional real-life obstacles. If I was stuck with only this smaller space for where I could play, I don’t imagine I would enjoy Mario Kart Live much at all.My fondest memories playing were only possible when I had enough room to embrace Nintendo and developer Velan Studios’ invitation to get creative. The gameplay systems they built into the digital part of Mario Kart Live met my own imagination halfway, and this collaboration turned otherwise simple courses into something I loved making and racing on as an adult – and would’ve absolutely adored as a kid.Mario Strikers Battle League
