Lost Grimoires 2 Shard of Mystery Switch NSP Free Download GAMESPACK.NET Artifex Mundi are back once again with another point-and-click puzzle adventure game from their expansive portfolio, and this time it’s Lost Grimoires 2: Shard of Mystery. I’ve lost count at this point as to how many games Artifex have pulled over to the Xbox One, but it goes without saying that if you’ve played even just one of their games, you know exactly what to expect, give or take a gameplay mechanic here and there. One thing I have always commended Artifex for is their care and attention to detail, more so when it comes to the hidden object portions of their games, and Lost Grimoires 2 is no exception. The game takes place in the same world as its predecessor, but is set several years later. The story tells of an endless war against a witch known as Drosera, who is now confined to a magical mirror following her defeat at the hands of the King. However, the King passes away following a series of strange illnesses and it now falls to protagonist Violet to prepare the King’s son, Fern, for his future. Once the prologue is out of the way, we catch up with Violet several years later, the day before Ferns coronation. TOP/BEST ADULT VIDEO GAMES IN UNITED STATES OF AMERICA (USA)

It’s here where the shit hits the fan. Fern has disappeared and it’s up to Violet and her powers of alchemy to track him down and get to the bottom of what’s happened. Rose, Ferns love interest, has seemingly freed the evil witch from her confinement and from here on out, you’ll be solving heaps of puzzles as you attempt to bring down Drosera one last time. It’s a very straight forward affair as far as fantasy stories go, but it proves to be engaging nevertheless, if somewhat predictable. Despite that the gameplay remains largely the same in comparison to previous outings, there are a number of changes that have been made to the core formula. The most notable change is that there is no longer the inclusion of Domino or Mahjong choices in place of the hidden object puzzles. Gameplay typically has you browsing through a collection of screens and interacting with the scenery. It’s not at all difficult to work out where to go or what to do, which can also be said about the many puzzles that await you in Lost Grimoires 2. Puzzles are not exclusive to activity sets that you locate and solve, as the overarching pace of the game is a puzzle in itself too.

Use your alchemy skills to save the prince!

Sometimes, for example, you will need a specific item to proceed to a certain area, an item that you can only obtain by completing a puzzle in another section of the game entirely. This helps to dial down the pace of the game, and as such, extends the play time as a result. Speaking of the length of the game, Lost Grimoires 2 roughly lasts between six to seven hours worth, which falls marginally short of the eight to ten hours worth of play we’ve witnessed in other games from Artifex. It goes without saying that there’s a good blend of puzzles within the game, but it hurts the experience to a small degree when these puzzles are far too easy and lack any difficulty curve throughout. That’s always been my major complaint regarding Artifex, which is that their games don’t offer a difficulty that gradually climbs in complexity as you move through. Here however, the difficulty tends to remain on a singular rail from start to finish, lacking much of a challenge at all. I dare say that most of the time, common sense or simple logic got me through, and I’m far from the brightest bulb in the box. Time Shifter Erotic Role-play

Make of that what you will. Lost Grimoires 2: Shard of Mystery is another Artifex Mundi game and the follow up to Lost Grimoires: Stolen Kingdom which I rather liked. As with all their other output this is a hidden object puzzle game and very much sticks to the template laid down in previous games. If you’ve played one Artifex Mundi game then you’ll pretty much know what to expect, which is both a blessing and a curse. What makes these games really stand out from each other is the setting and story and with Lost Grimoires 2 we’ve a story which is based a number of years after the first game, so therefore shares some of the same characters. The story had more of a romance twist to it this time than a lot of the previous games I’ve played. But there is an evil witch threatening the kingdom and you are the only one who can save the day. What follows is a solid four to five hours of play with lots of plot twists, not wholly unexpected, to keep things interesting. I was less drawn to the story being told here as it lacks that spooky edge I’ve found so appealing in previous titles.

Embark on a new magic-filled adventure!

Once again the game plays out through a series of detailed 2D scenes with the only interaction being a large circular cursor you can sweep around to highlight points of interest. Highlighting these will often zoom the screen in and there will be some kind of activity or puzzle to complete. The activities can be as simple as using a specific object to help you get another object, cutting a curtain away with a sword to allow you to get a cog for example. The same goes for the hidden object scenes, where successful completion will grant you a new item. These hidden items are then used on large puzzles which gate your progress to new areas. Sometimes in these games there can be an alternative to completing the hidden object scenes, a game of mah-jong or a card matching game. In Lost Grimoires 2 there is no alternative option and you don’t have any helper companions either. What you do have is an alchemy game which is not available ever scene, but rather an end of location puzzle to allow you to progress further. This is a kind of match three gem puzzler and, whilst never really challenging, again adds variety to proceedings. ASTERIX & OBELIX XXXL : THE RAM FROM HIBERNIA

Only one person in the king’s court can discover Prince Fern when he goes missing just days before his coronation. Put yourself in the shoes of House Griff’s teacher, spy, and advisor as you embark on a perilous quest to locate the heir and save him from the hands of black magic. Lost Grimoires has rapidly become one of our favorite new series. We applaud the developers’ efforts to innovate the gameplay and take advantage of the current generation of tablet capabilities. The diversity of minigames, especially how the mazes were more than just picking a corridor; gem match being part of the alchemy, making it more fascinating than just putting stuff in a cauldron, and the range of characters interacting and assisting each other were all things we enjoyed. People who are big fans of the HOPs may be upset because they aren’t as prominent in the game. Our biggest complaint was that the cut sections were choppy, and redownloading didn’t help. The voice acting was mediocre at best. There isn’t a bonus chapter either, but because we bought it at a bargain, we don’t feel cheated.

Travel through 31 mysterious locations!

The puzzles were also too easy, so they didn’t annoy us as we worked our way through the entire game. The plot is superior to the first game in the Lost Grimoires series. There were some new games that we’ve never seen previously, which was exciting. We wish there were more objectives to complete during the game instead of merely gathering roses. We also didn’t enjoy how much voice acting there was compared to how much playing there was. Hopefully, the developers will address these difficulties in future updates and add more games to the Lost Grimoires series.  Just like other Artifex Mundi games, the game has good-looking, realistic visuals. The animated characters’ face that shows up whenever they are talking doesn’t look blurry in this game, and the backgrounds are made in such great detail with the effects and lighting. The comparison between cutscenes and in-game visuals isn’t that apparent either – they look so similar that I wasn’t sure that I was watching a cutscene myself. These kinds of games usually have some sort of premise at the beginning,  and Lost Grimoires 2: Shard of Mystery is no different.

There will be someone with an evil intention and you, as the main character, have to travel between places to stop them. All dialogues are voice dubbed, although I found them to be funny since the characters are mostly talking in a flat tone whenever something happened. On the plus side, the story is good enough – it flows smoothly to make your traveling not feel like a waste of time. As someone who hasn’t played the first episode, I didn’t have any difficulties in following the story. There might be some interesting premise in the prologue which I assumed to be a summary of what happened in the first episode, although the game will give all the info that you need to know from that cutscene. The story is also concluded nicely in this episode either. There might be a mention of another sequel in the game, but it doesn’t hint at anything and can be safely ignored. If you have played Artifex Mundi games, this game is basically the same: it’s a point-and-click adventure combined with hidden objects and puzzles. The only new thing that this game has to offer is the implementation of the alchemy feature, where you have to collect some ingredients to concoct a potion.

Each alchemy attempt will bring you to a minigame with a tiled board, similar to match-three games, but instead of swapping objects, you’ll have to form a line from 3 or more objects with the same color. Hidden objects are varied. There is the usual version where you have to find objects from the given lists, although there are some cases where you have to find the same-looking object from the given silhouette. To be honest, I enjoyed the other version better since I tend to have difficulties associating names with objects in these kinds of minigames. The objects in this game aren’t hard to find though, and you can always use a hint if you don’t care about achievements. These larger puzzles are logic based puzzles things like matching shapes or building jigsaw style pictures. I found a decent degree of variation in these puzzles and this really kept the game feeling fresh. This extended to the hidden object scenes as well as there were a good mix between the traditional picking objects from a written list and the more modern finding silhouettes. Overall things are fairly relaxing and this is one of the main reasons I enjoying playing these kind of games.  DRAGON BALL: THE BREAKERS Switch NSP
