LEGO Brawls Free Download GAMESPACK.NET Originally released back in September of 2019 on Apple Arcade, Lego Brawls is a Super Smash Bros. style fighting game that sees you jump into eight-player action as one of over 200 unlockable Lego minifigures. You’ll battle it out here across a slew of Lego-themed arenas in free-for-all fights or cooperative face-offs where two teams of four duel over a simple objective. It sounds exciting, it looks great, and we absolutely love Lego! Unfortunately, it’s all let down by extremely basic gameplay and stuttering performance on Switch. Yes, as much as this one is right up our blocky plastic street, it’s hard to see anyone, beyond very young kids, getting a lot of time out of what’s on offer here. There may be an absolute ton of minifigures, costumes, and other bits and pieces to unlock as you play and earn studs — something which will undoubtedly keep some young fans busy for quite a while — but in terms of the actual brawls, well, it’s a very shallow and disappointing experience that quickly becomes a repetitive button-mashing bore. The origins of LEGO Brawls , after all, are not that different: the Red Games platform fighting game aims to recreate the feeling that anyone can win a fight, exclusively encouraging lighthearted fun and imagination in the creation of their favorite hero. After being one of the very first titles to be landed on Apple Arcade, the developers have decided to collaborate with Bandai Namco, a publisher who knows about fighting games, for the launch of this curious production also on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X | S, Xbox One, Switch and PC, almost three years after the original launch. However, those who expected a particularly deep fighting game or, alternatively, a product that could be compared to other beloved videogame adaptations of LEGO , such as the recent The Skywalker Saga that we have awarded on our pages , could be disappointed: so let’s find out together what made this product so different from expectations.

Players can mix and match official LEGO Brawals bricks to create their own unique minifigure brawlers.

Fights here give you a basic attack, the ability to jump, and space for two specials that you’ll pick up from blocks scattered around arenas. Initially, the specials are a good laugh and there’s plenty of daft stuff like Lego sharks, rockets, drills, lasers, horses, and so on to collect and batter your enemies with but, before long, the excitement wears off as you realise that all of these power-ups control in the exact same manner and don’t really add any sort of strategic depth beyond simply barrelling through enemies for an easy kill. Lego Brawls’ battles are very simply a case of hammering buttons and hoping for the best when it comes down to it and none of this is helped by the fact that there’s constant stuttering in online play at launch and it can be very hard to keep an eye on where your character is due to how far out the camera likes to zoom during the chaos. Not a great mix. Automation The Car Company Tycoon Game

With eight-player local play, online free-for-all, and an online co-operative mode to dig into across a range of famous Lego sets, such as Ninjago, Pirates, The Hidden Side, and Jurassic World, this game has the bones of a really great party brawler, and it does look very nice, but there’s just no getting around the fact it’s tediously simple and messy stuff that’s also laughably over-priced — and this is the real sticking point. You might be tempted to look on Lego Brawls as pleasantly daft nonsense for your youngest Lego fans if it weren’t quite so ridiculously priced on Switch, especially when you consider how little it cost originally as part of Apple Arcade. Nintendo’s platfighter that acts as a crossover between series of all kinds, Smash Bros., is so popular that it easily sells more than once-unattainable giants such as Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat and Tekken. It is therefore not surprising that several titles have taken it as inspiration; among these we find LEGO Brawls by Bandai Namco, based on similar dynamics but more versed in team play and greater accessibility, probably also to be played more easily on mobile devices on which it has been present since 2019. Now the game is also available on ours console complete with global cross-play and cross-platform online leaderboards, so it’s time to start taking a closer look.

Levels offer unique challenges, win conditions, and multi-player modes.

The LEGO brand’s presence in the gaming space can largely be attributed to the scores of licensed family-friendly action-adventure titles made by TT Games, but there are, of course, other LEGO experiences to be found outside of that group as well. In 2019, for instance, The LEGO Group and developer Red Games launched LEGO Brawls for Apple Arcade, and the game has enjoyed a fair bit of success and praise in the time since then. Soon, LEGO Brawls will also be making its way over to PlayStation, Xbox, Windows, and Switch, and ahead of that launch, here, we’ll be going over a few key details that you should know about the game. Another area where LEGO Brawls offers a fairly unique experience in the platform fighter space is the impressive degree of control it affords in terms of character customization. Players build their own minifigure heroes to fight with in battles, giving them unique styles, power ups, weapons, and more. As you’d imagine, customization of heroes includes cosmetics as well. As you play more of the game, you’ll unlock new upgrades that can give advantages in fights and cosmetic items for your minifigure heroes as well. BeamNG drive

Given LEGO Brawls’ flexibility in customization, it makes sense that there’s a range of different kinds of minifigures you can create and use in battles as well. LEGO Brawls groups its minifigures across multiple categories, each being themed in a variety of ways, ranging from Ninjago, Jurassic World, Pirates, and Alien Conquest to Classic Space, Western, Castle, and more. Customizing figures from across these categories with a variety of different weapons and power ups is clearly something the game emphasizes, with control being afforded over your minifigure’s faces, skin tones, torsos, legs, hats, melees, power-ups, emotes, and names. Similar to its minifigures, LEGO Brawls has themed stages as well. There are multiple battle arenas in the game, each themed differently, including a castle stage, the wild west, the caverns of Ninjago Seabound, and the Monkie Kid jungle. A Jurassic World themed stage is also featured in the game. Players vote which stage they want to play on at the beginning of each match, and each stage comes with its own modes, challenges, win conditions, and more. In the Jurassic World stage, for instance, players can control the t-rex.

Players configure their own power up load-out, tailored to their preference and play style.

In LEGO Brawls, up to eight players battle it out to emerge victorious across a range of maps. Sometimes all eight competitors might be against each other in a free-for-all. Other times they might be split into two teams and need to battle for supremacy of a zone. Needless to say, while it might look like a Super Smash Bros. clone in screenshots, it’s actually fairly unique. But ‘unique’ doesn’t equate to ‘good’. Unfortunately, the action found in LEGO Brawls is just too basic to even be fun in the short term, never mind the long term. Just three attacks are on offer, and these don’t change no matter which of LEGO Brawls‘ many characters you take control of. On top of that, mechanically it just doesn’t impress. Most battles just boil down to hammering the standard attack button and hoping for the best.

The only things that inject a bit of fun into LEGO Brawls‘ events are a number of special abilities that can be used. These range from shields that prevent you from taking damage for a short while, to conjuring up a dragon that you ride around the screen while firing fireballs. For just a moment, these can make LEGO Brawls somewhat entertaining. But they’re not enough to rescue it. It’s a shame, too, because if you’re a LEGO fan, the fact there are nearly 250 minifigs to unlock and take control of here is a huge draw. A huge range of themes are included such as Knights, Jurassic Park, Pirates and even Ninjago. You can even choose a theme to concentrate your progress on, allowing you to unlock the minifigs you want to make use of first. And once you’ve unlocked a minifig, its parts and accessories are added to your pool, increasing your ability to create your own zany characters.

LEGO Brawls presents us with two types of game modes: free-for-all and team play. Either way, the objectives can range from having to eliminate each enemy, get more points than the opponents by conquering areas, or simply survive longer than the opponents. To do this, you select your fighter, called a brawler. This can be one of the many pre-built characters based on the many existing LEGO series, from Ninjago to Jurassic World to which we can apply an infinite number of combinations of licensed or original pieces to customize your look. Even the weapons and power-ups can be customized for each fighter. Speaking of weapons, in this side-scrolling 3D platfighter most of the combat takes place in hand-to-hand combat, including fists, swords, clubs and a host of other items. The amount of moves present has nothing to do with the complexity of titles like Smash Bros., with almost only the side shot and the up and down ones making up the arsenal of available attacks. We also find a similar simplicity in the movement system: there are dodges on the ground and in the air, but not double jumps or aerial recoveries with moves at will as happens in the Nintendo saga.
