Shunichiro Tachibana is the 36 year old Creative Director at the MC’s ad agency, Addison & Rhodes. This guy is just dripping with unrestrained sex appeal… He has alpha male written all over him, from the way he talks to the seductive way he looks at the MC… Usually I avoid these guys like the plague, but there’s something about the guy that piqued my interest Toshiaki Kijima is a 34 year old Account Planning Executive, who likes his coffee black *wiggles eyebrows suggestively* He’s a bit of a hard ass at the office, his subordinates call him the “Evil exec” and “Data Devil” behind his back not that he cares much. Storyline.

Not that he’d remember her very much anyway, apparently he’s “not good with faces”… He doesn’t really seem to care one way or another about the one night stand…Taku Hayama is the only rando in the bunch, she actually managed to pick up a stranger at the bar the night before and when she runs into him again she has the audacity to call him the pick up artist. LMFAO she calls him a “smooth operator” and a “lothario“, but honestly I don’t get that vibe from him. He’s just a regular at that particular bar that just happened to be at the right place at the right time Go Okubo is a bartender “with a thing for sophisticated women” WTF Voltage?!! (I giggled at that for a good 10 minutes!) He’s the youngest guy in this lineup at the ripe old age of 24 and I can’t help but get the sense that he’s up to no good. So I’m just covering my bases… plus he’s gorgeous! So this coin based system is here to stay because this is the third game to adopt this new system and Voltage just switched Kissed By the Baddest Bidder over to the Coin system too… It’s similar to the system in place for Sweet Cafe, players purchase coins which can be used to purchase stories within the game (players can still buy stories using real money too). Like every Voltage Inc game since the dawn of time, players can change the course of the story by making choices throughout the game (usually two per chapter, with three options each). Players can keep track of which ending they’re headed towards with the help of a Love Meter that appears at the end of each chapter! You could say Toshiaki’s reputation is overblown, and it’s easy to see why. The guy is super stoic, and not very personable. A lot of who he is in the story stems from a lost love, many years back. He has a lot of personal demons to fight, and MC plays an important role in helping him begin the healing process. If Shunichiro’s route falls under the “whirlwind romance” category, Toshiaki’s route is much more slow burn: our couple can’t get together until the guy is fixed. But crucially, here it’s done very well. Toshiaki and MC’s romance trajectory feels very natural, like the culmination of many small moments, not all sexually charged. Here are some of my favorite aspects of the route: The emphasis on Toshiaki as a gentle and excellent lover. Great clue to his true personality! Toshiaki helping MC pick out prizes for a party, only to skip out on the party so his underlings can have fun. Really speaks to his character, the poor guy. The fact that the story directly addresses the negative consequences of working yourself too hard. MC faints from self-imposed overwork late in the story, and Toshiaki, like a champ, makes sure she gets her rest and isn’t incentivized to continue overworking. The fact that MC and Toshiaki’s collaboration seems temporary, and that they’re in entirely different departments. Seems like a good recipe for a more sustainable /healthy workplace romance! Coffee as a motif. The brand they’re trying to develop an ad for, Mira Black, is bitter and something of an acquired taste, much like Toshiaki himself (it’s not subtle; Mira Black was developed in Toshiaki’s home town, which he takes her to for inspiration, haha).

Characters.

Again, I would never claim that Toshiaki’s route in Irresistible Mistakes is breaking new ground in the romance genre. I personally don’t believe that romances need to try something special/unique to be enjoyable if it’s done well. And Toshiaki’s story, imho, is definitely done very well! Overall, this route is an excellently written, straight-forward romance that I highly recommend if you want a pick-me-up, or something low-drama but good! Shunichiro Tachibana is a creative director and our boss. In his route, MC ends up working alongside him for a commercial because he believes in her talent. Shunichiro is passionate when it comes to his job that he would consider an arranged marriage. Alright, where do I start… Honestly one of the biggest issues for me was the flow of the route. It would bounce back and forth to the one-night stand issue, the relationship between MC and Shunichiro, the commercial, the arranged marriage, and getting to know Shinichiro at such an odd pace where one gets more attention while other doesn’t yet seems important.

Also, being in an office setting, it’s not very unique or exciting since it’s another route where we have an office romance with our boss, with no thrilling drama I may add. Though, it wasn’t boring, but it did not grab my attention. The MC I had a huge issue with. I honestly do not understand when I hear other call her ‘badass’ when she had not shown me much badass moments. MC is a bit confusing, to be honest. She’s supposedly inexperienced, yet she’s trying to present herself as someone who doesn’t shy away from sex. Though, she doesn’t present herself as someone who’s sexually confident or dominating. In fact, Shinichiro takes the lead most of the time, while MC questions herself and quickly gives in anyway. MC didn’t even seem sure what she wanted herself, especially with her relationship with Shunichiro. It ended up annoying me with how unsure MC is about it, but does not take much action about it and assumes then gets upset. Her interactions with any of the other characters weren’t that interesting either. Speaking of relationship, the relationship did not grab me in the slightest.

I wasn’t sure if they wanted to go with the casual hook up or actual romantic feelings from the beginning and then build up. I thought it would be hook up then fall for each other later, but it did not do that. So there were romantic feelings from the beginning, so it wasn’t just a one-night stand? It’s said that MC had feelings for Shunichiro from the very beginning because he was her hero. So there wasn’t much romantic development. And that being said, the actual sex scenes themselves. Honestly, I was pretty disappointed with them. I was looking forward to them too  The only good one I can think of was the third night together. But overall, the scenes weren’t as steamy as I hoped. For a game about one-night stands, the route wasn’t as steamy as I expected either (ﾉAlright, time to talk about the things I did like. While Shunichiro didn’t grab me that much, I can’t deny that he’s an alluring man and did find him adorable at times. Such as him being a McNugget fan. That got him on my good side so quick  And the fact he collects the toys too got me like  Now I demand to see his McDonald toy collection! Overall, I wouldn’t say this the worst I’ve read.
