Horse Tales Emerald Valley Ranch! Switch NSP Free Download GAMESPACK.NET Horse Tales: Emerald Valley Ranch is Aesir Interactive’s attempt to revive the “horse game” genre, but unfortunately the result is an unpolished game that repeats many of its predecessors’ mistakes. Published by Microids, Horse Tales: Emerald Valley Ranch possesses the same charm and whimsical feel as previous titles in the genre, with environments stylized to match the game’s gentle tone. The game has many successes, and is absolutely entertaining and enjoyable for horse-loving players, but its bugs, lack of detail, and oftentimes awkward gameplay is more consistent with an early access title than a full release. Horse Tales: Emerald Valley Ranch is an open-world game for casual gamers, in which players explore a small equestrian community populated by colorful characters like the friendly Gabriel, the helpful Matteo, and the architect Noelle. Players are able to upgrade their ranch as they progress through the game’s story, finding blueprints and accruing the game’s primary currency, fame, through various deeds. Fame unlocks new competitive opportunities, allowing you to make a name for yourself on the peninsula. Players can tame, breed, and sell horses. Each horse’s aptitude is measured on a scale of 1 to 5, with the categories of Endurance, Agility, Strength, Luck, and Charisma each offering various benefits. Like in Elden Ring’s world, exploring makes the game easier, as players acquire new resources, gain access to more wild horses, and take on new quests. Primarily, the game suffers from a number of small mistakes that compound to create a subpar experience. There’s no voiceover, horses resting at the estate are not visible in pasture or in stalls, and the camera is difficult to navigate. While horses have particular vices, these are relatively easy to correct, and there’s only a handful of traits horses acquire. Although some players grow tired of immersive details, like Red Dead Redemption 2 making players take guns off the horse every single time, these features allow players to feel connected with the game’s world. In comparison, in Horse Tales: Emerald Valley Ranch, the screen goes black every time a horse is lead instead of showing an animation. The result is a world that just doesn’t quite feel vivid enough to create a satisfying experience.

Coupled with a variety of bugs that can send horses flying into the air, clipping through bushes, and standing sideways, the result is a game that doesn’t quite feel complete. The game is fun, however, for players who enjoy riding or have fond memories of playing video games with horses as a child. Once one has adapted to the controls, navigating the map isn’t quite as difficult, and although some of the keybinds are awkward (and currently unchangeable), it’s easy enough to adapt. Horses feel like individuals, with stats impacting their speed, maneuverability, and jump. Additionally, the game offers a wide variety of horse coats, each horse has a favorite food and a favorite place to be pet, and horses each have a few traits that help to set them apart. Although these traits are limited in variety, they do successfully add flavor to the game. Horse Tales: Emerald Valley Ranch can’t compete with how accurate Red Dead Redemption 2’s horses are, but the game’s efforts to give each horse some personality offer a bit more variety than RDR2’s mounts. The game’s current price, $39.99 USD, is unfortunately far too steep for what Horse Tales: Emerald Valley Ranch currently offers.Jump Force Ultimate Edition

With some updates, bug-fixes, and additional features, the game could currently be worthy of this price tag. However, at the time of writing, Horse Tales: Emerald Valley Ranch is only worth the cost to players who adore horses enough to overlook the game’s errors. Although it’s a good step towards the horse game fans have been longing for, unfortunately, Horse Tales: Emerald Valley Ranch still isn’t quite the game players have long wanted. Picture this: you’re riding on horseback through an open field, the wind blowing through your hair, the sound of birdsong filling your ears. You slow as you approach a crystal-clear pond full of lily pads and cattails. You dismount from your horse to take in the scenery and pick an apple from a nearby tree. How idyllic. Or it would be, if your horse didn’t suddenly disappear in a puff of dust, shooting up into the sky and levitating on a tilted axis. Horse Tales: Emerald Valley Ranch – part adventure game, part horse ownership simulator – is filled with juxtapositions like these. It entices you with its open-world exploration and unique life simulation, while simultaneously frustrating you with its imprecise controls and technical performance issues.

A horseback adventure in a captivating open world.

You arrive in Emerald Valley by boat with a letter from your aunt in hand, inviting you to visit the family ranch. You soon discover she has abandoned the ranch, leaving it in a sorry state – so you become its new custodian. There’s plenty of repair and redesign work to be done. You have little more information than this to work with and as a result, Horse Tales feels somewhat bare-bones. It’s a game that wants you to create your own character, and gives you the space to project yourself into its world and mentally fill in the gaps. But the absence of narrative and characterisation extends throughout its setting, and into the lives of the characters you encounter, resulting in a world that feels empty. The key supporting characters you befriend are all archetypal; Matteo the woodsman, Gabriel the mayor’s son, Lilli the snobby rich girl rival. They get very little introduction and minimal development after that, so you don’t get to know them in any meaningful way. There aren’t any other NPCs wandering about the world either, so areas that should be populated feel like a ghost town. I found myself wishing to be pulled into the world more.Gal Metal Switch NSP

I wanted something to grab me and drag me in – be that an interesting storyline, or new items I desperately wanted to craft – but it just didn’t happen. The most enjoyment I found in Horse Tales was in forgoing the critical path and carving out my own. There’s a good few hours of enjoyment to be had in exploring the map freely. Though it appears small at first, being concealed by cloud cover until you scout new areas, it is surprisingly vast and varied; from rolling green fields, to dark forests, sun-scorched ravines and secluded beaches. There are a variety of crafting ingredients and recipes to find hidden in secluded corners, too. The open world of Emerald Valley is the real standout of Horse Tales, and you can’t explore it without the help of your chosen equine bestie. Navigating environmental obstacles requires more agility than you possess. Where travelling on foot is slow and awkward, riding on horseback is fast and convenient. Unfortunately, the controls leave much to be desired here. When moving at high speed and weaving through obstacles, it can be difficult to maintain control of your horse. The camera needs constant adjustment and the horse controls feel clunky and unresponsive at times. I often got snagged on objects mid-gallop, or found that my jumps were somehow mistimed.

Breed the finest horses according to their stats, characteristics, and colors.

If you even slightly graze an object as you run past it, your horse will come to a complete stop, and you’ll have to build up momentum again. If you don’t perform a jump perfectly, your position is reset and you’re set back a few metres. To make this more challenging, your horse gets dirty when you bump into obstacles – so, constantly. You can’t just ignore your horse’s cleanliness either because ‘a well-groomed horse recovers from exhaustion quicker’, according to the game, and stamina is important to maintaining speed. Depending on the order you tackle quests and explore the map, it can take a while to unlock the recipe and find the items required to make the washing station. The short-term solution is to lead your horse into the water – but this quickly becomes tedious. The story of Horse Tales: Emerald Valley Ranch isn’t overcomplicated, which is a good thing. It’s a simple set-up. Aunt Josephine has invited you to visit her at her horse ranch. When you get there, you discover that the ranch is in a bad case of disrepair. If that wasn’t bad enough, Aunt Josephine doesn’t seem that bothered, and as she’s away on vacation, she leaves it up to you to fix the place up.

You might be feeling a bit resentful of Aunt Josephine at this point, but this sets in stone the gameplay, and you’ll find it’s not all that bad. Seeing as this is a horse riding game, the core gameplay of Horse Tales: Emerald Valley Ranch is of course horse riding. It makes sense to start the gameplay section of this review talking about horse play in Horse Tales: Emerald Valley Ranch. The first thing I should say is that the game has gone to a lot of effort with detail regarding horses. No horse is the same, and there is a lot more to the horses than I anticipated. They have names, genders, likes and dislikes, and abilities. The latter two is very important. Likes will positively affect your horse in certain circumstances, while dislikes will have a negative impact. Likes and dislikes can affect how your horse behaves and rides. For example, you can have a horse who likes forests, so they’ll ride faster. However, you could also have a horse who hates dark places and won’t ride as well in tunnels and dark forests. They’ll even refuse to sprint and jump. Fortunately, you can train your horse out of their dislikes so it’s no longer a problem. Another important attribute of your horse to watch out for are abilities. There are 5 altogether: endurance, agility, luck, and charisma.

These affect how your horse performs in activities such as sprinting and jumping. This is very important if you want your horse to do well in races (especially that tricky Sneaky Ways race). Sadly, you can’t seem to change your horse’s abilities with training and such. You’re stuck with what you get. If you want a horse that is faster and stronger, you’ll need to find yourself a better horse. Get caught up in a beautiful horseback adventure! Explore the vast wild stretches surrounding you, meet the residents of the peninsula and forge friendships. Discover the secrets hidden on the island, Breed, tame and train horses – each with their own strengths and characteristics – and take part in thrilling races. Your aunt has really let the family estate fall into disrepair – what remains of the once glorious stud farm is now rubble and ruins, and you are the only one who can do anything about it. Fortunately, you are not alone in your endeavor: In the mayor’s son Gabriel, the local woodsman Mattéo and the architect and master craftswoman Noella, you quickly find invaluable allies to rebuild what once was and make it better than ever before. It is now up to you to restore your family’s name to its former glory – and perhaps even to gain the respect of the prestigious Félix family.Tame It!
