Not only that but you also need to free the lovebird from its cage whilst adhering to each tower’s rules (i.e. saving the bird within the alloted time, having collected the shiny buds scattered around the tower, etc). There is some fantastic banter-like humour between The Gardener, The Knight and various other NPCs you come across along the way. As the story progresses, the seemingly two-dimensional characters grow into relatable personas with with heart bigger than the challenges ahead of them. The witty dialogue interactions and the comedic timing is exceptional, resulting in a wide smile on one’s face more often than not. The towers grow increasingly difficult and complex, which is expected of any game, but when they get to the point of not knowing which way is forward and which way backward, it comes to a point where some kind of map (or indicator) could have been helpful. Boy, can that music be repetitive! This is primarily an issue within its opening world as its pluckiness is cute at first but when you hear the same melody across the area’s seven levels, it gets old quick.

For something that’s going to quietly drop onto the eShop with a seemingly low marketing budget, this game deserves to be talked about; so please, tell your friends! The levels are incredibly fun, and keep my challenged and engaged each time I progress. I get such a rich sense of exploration when finding collectibles and solving puzzles. What’s not to love about this game! I played the free demo for this game before the final product launched. The demo had me so excited for final launch, and I was delighted to find out it kept my save progress! Can’t wait to come back and give the challenge mode a try once I beat the campaign! Throw in an evil Magician who spirits the prince away, a cynical knight, and a pirate, and you have a story which twists and turns more than the vines that wrap themselves around the towers of the game. The game has a wonderful art-style, a sort of 2.5D perspective shifting chunky pixel-aesthetic reminiscent of mid-to-late 90s PS1 and N64 games. There are 21 towers to climb, across three worlds. Equipped with a pair of shears, your lovestruck gardener is tasked with deadheading flowers growing on each tower. With each cut you are propelled upwards, at the same time new vines sprout, along with leaves and more flowers. Leaves act as platforms but can also be bounced on to jump high in the air and climb further up the tower. As you progress through the game new mechanics are introduced, and towers become bigger, and more intricately designed. This is an indie gem definitely worth checking out. Very wholesome and fun game to play. Right away, the story is unique yet familiar…this time the Prince is the one who needs to be saved by….his boyfriend!? Yup, queer representation! The writing is playful, cute, and very punny. It’s fairly easy to pick up even if you’re not great at platformers and feels smooth when playing with a controller! The combos are super satisfying and if you’re anything like me, you’ll get super excited once you finally reach the top of the tower! Super cute and fun to play, specially when doing combos! The plot is simple and kinda funny sometimes and the gameplay is well managed even though I’ve got some crashes. Perfect for a lazy afternoon with a Galician shopaholic man in Discord! Yes, its worth ten dollars. I personally got bored of the gimmick as a lot of the levels look the same, but it doesn’t detract from the game a supporting queer stuff is good.

The gameplay keeps evolving across the four worlds, with the addition of seesaws for which you need to find weights to launch yourself upward and portals that zap you across towers.
