It is offering intense, RPG depth and action, all in a procedurally generated, open world where you can go where you want, set your own goals, and go about heroic adventures your way. Whether that is dungeon delving, gremlin slaying, bandit busting, or hunting and gathering in the woods and hills, Doors of Trithius offers the gritty, indie RPG experience of earning your power, thus making each milestone, and each character success feel meaningful. Specifically, Doors of Trithius has both an overworld map you travel across Caves of Qud style, and you can explore tile by tile if you wish, collecting resources and food as you battle whatever creatures happen to control the area you are rumbling your big, bad adventurer self through. never played Stoneshard… Mainly because there seems to be some weird design choices that the players heavily disagree with and the devs seem to be a little stubborn (ex. No save and close system. You have to find a location to save before exiting the game). Doors of Thrithius seems to be a similar style to Stoneshard. It’s great, I really appreciate the ways it manages to connect player to the world in various ways. Various workshops being an important aspect of it, being like oh man, this town doesn’t have anywhere to study/cook/craft and wondering where exactly would I find a place to do enchantments nicely makes you care about and pay attention to the world a tiny bit more. To expand on that a bit I probably would have quickly forgotten about a botanist NPC who I did one of my first quests for and bought gardening gloves from but thanks to occasionally dropping by to get another quest, to advertise another store, to do a delivery or to use his facilities I’ve been nicely reminded about my history with him often enough to cause me to feel somewhat sentimental about visiting him.
