Heck when I was a teenager I learned how to drive a water truck and a dump truck so I thought I had a pretty good understanding of the steering involved with big trucks. Backing up in particular is a hard learned trick because a semi trailer doesn’t behave at all like you would think when you put that sucker in reverse. They are also squirrely as hell which might cause a less patient player to run away quick. This game is hard but anyone who ever thinks they can drive anything or have ever thought that life on the open road was for them should really give this game a run. I sincerely believe that the learning to drive section of this game not only prepares you for the next section of the game but also teaches you the fundamentals you need to drive a truck with a trailer in real life. The second part, the Young European Truck Drivers contest that has you running obstacle courses and performing tricky maneuvers struggling for the best times not just set by the developers but set by fellow players all over the world. You have to have your game down pretty tight if you want to be ranked decently at all. This part I was generally just happy to complete, getting competitive times would require dedication bordering on obsession. No scratch that, you would have to be obsessed. It is crazy hard to complete yet alone compete so those who do deserve mad respect. They also deserve a giveme hat and a loan for their first rig or at least a try at being a tram driver at Disneyland. The last part is actually a bit easier and possibly the most fun is the dangerous roads and deliveries section of the game that follows the competition.

Prove your truck skills.

Instead of having required moves you have to make to complete a task you are on timed runs driving the best you can through flood swollen streets and along cliffs with sheer drops. You really put your reflexes and knowledge of the physics of the rigs to test in this one but instead of trying to avoid cones you are trying to keep from sending your rig plummeting to certain doom. This seems the most appealing just like seeing a tight rope walker walking 50 feet off the ground is more exciting than seeing one walk 5 feet off the ground. To succeed at these tasks it takes the same skills you learned in practice and competition but there is much more satisfaction in real world conditions. The graphics in the game are excellent and really help immerse the player into the game. The tiny details can be important on some of the driving challenges so good graphics can be key. The sounds are also very authentic with the rumble of engines and when making a mistake sometimes the screech of metal. Between the graphics and physics this game might not play quite as well on a lower end computer but if your computer can handle it you will enough the atmosphere. I think that the game is different experience compared to most driving games out there because instead of driving around a track or alternatively being given access a world and being able to drive however. wherever you like; in this game you are completing objective based levels and it is a more realistic and intelligent driving game as it will provide you with at times some difficult scenarios which will at times put you in close quarters and for every time you make a mistake it will penalise you. However whilst this game is mostly driving scenarios you are allowed to drive around a 3d city with goods of your choosing and even drive around the Scania demo centre if you choose to do so, but you don’t actually get to go in the building which for some who wanted a tour of it may be a little bit of a letdown even though in the steam description it advertises and I quote “Take the opportunity to learn more about the world leading Scania trucks with a unique opportunity for a virtual visit to Scania’s own Demo Centre”. Technically I feel that the game is quite basic in some aspects firstly when it comes to customisation whilst you only have 1 truck design which is as the developers could have had a plethora of trucks for the player to drive in complete with a description of the truck and its statistics pushing the Scania brand. After I first started the I was quite happy with the selection of picking your own gender.

Freeform missions.

Name, what colour out of 20+ different colours you want your truck to be in as well as being able to have driving seat in the left side (most of the world) or the right side (UK and a small handful of other countries) which I thought was a nice touch since some people are accustomed to how they drive in the real world. But your profile choices no real effects on game play because your character doesn’t speak(so gender choice is null.) in the game your other choices actually have no real effect either as on most scenarios it is one challenge with no difference in driving around the area. Even in free roam mode which you are allowed to drive around a virtual city with traffic driving around the map changing the driving seat in this mode makes no difference except where you are sat which I thought was a shame as it could have allowed you drive on the left hand side rather than just being a different place to sit. One thing I do think is strange about this game is about progress as when it comes to playing the game’s various modes you can access each mode and complete each mission starting from the top and working your way down the page completing each scenario, but all you have to do is complete the objectives in each level it doesn’t matter how many mistakes you make during the level.Save Room Switch NSP

if you reach the end goal you will still be allowed to continue onto the next mission whether this is intentional or not I don’t know but it is a bit silly that you can essentially be classed as failing with your score but yet your good to further in the game which is counterproductive. I also am unsure on if the fact you can just go onto each section without completing the earlier section is intentional but I think it is strange that you can go straight to the complex missions while bypassing the training levels. This: A technical truck driving simulator. ETS 2: An open truck driving simulator. This doesn’t have any managerial aspects (running your own business) but ETS 2 does. One thing I will add though. I think this game would have been better served as a DLC of some kind. Scania Truck Driving Simulator is a nice introduction to the franchise. It runs great and shows a slightly simplified version of what you will see in ETS2 and ATS. It is not a school with instructors giving advice or technique, but it is low pressure and gives the driver a chance to practice and improve through trial-and-error. I use a Logitech G-923. There is a known issue with the wheel’s return spring tension. After setting up a profile with Logitech’s software, the return spring reverts to maximum after tabbing back to the game. I searched the forums and found a few discussions about a workaround, I couldn’t get it to work. Another post on the forum says SCS is no longer supporting the game. It probably works fine with older wheels. Sadness is only 4/10; I am hoping SCS develops a true trucking school as a standalone game, or a big DLC. In general, every ETS2 player should play STS before playing ETS2 because it’s like going to a driving school to practice and get a license before you can drive a truck across Europe.

STS will make you a good truck driver before you head out to ETS2. But if you are like me, having played ETS2 before, then you probably don’t need STS. If you still buy it anyway, you probably will not play it anymore after a few hours, unless you want to go back to retrain yourself. It’s not something you will play for hundreds or thousands of hours like ETS2. In STS you can also do cargo delivery mode, but you are stuck in one city only, and the companies are very close to each other. It will take only 5 – 10 minutes real life time to complete one delivery. You just drive within the city limits most of the time. It’s a very good game but the scope is too small that it should have been part of ETS2 or expansion pack rather than a standalone game. For those who know and played Euro Truck Simulator 2: This is the same developer, so the “basics” in physics and gameplay are similar (Controls and graphics seem to be much better as far as I can tell). The game itself is different. There is a freeride/delivery-mode as you might know it from ETS2, but it is smaller and, as far as I can see now, less complex (still much fun to play). The ´amazingness´ (Is that a word?) of this game comes from the many modes and missions. Drive along a messed-up road, a mountain pass, or a flooded area .
