Rhythm Doctor Free Download GAMESPACK.NET Rhythm Doctor is a game I’ve been eagerly anticipating since I first played its earliest Flash demo(opens in new tab) back in 2014. It’s come a long way since that version, with a full Steam release(opens in new tab) planned for sometime this year. It’s a one button rhythm game that you play simply by hitting the space bar on the seventh beat of every bar. Where most rhythm games challenge you to complete a complex sequence of button presses—or to click on specific parts of the screen with pinpoint speed and accuracy—Rhythm Doctor doesn’t have that luxury. There’s only one button, after all. Instead, each patient that you meet has a disease that fights back by trying to distract you from the otherwise simple task of counting to seven. The first patient of the current demo suffers from a wi-fi jamming bacteria called connectifia abortus. It messes with your connection to the level, causing it to glitch out and degrade in interesting ways. The demo also features a remixed version of that patient with an irregular time signature and even more offputting distractions.TOP/BEST ADULT VIDEO GAMES IN UNITED STATES OF AMERICA (USA)

And that’s just one patient. Elsewhere in the demo, there’s a full musical number about overworked doctors (and the politicians trying to turn the public against them). Another features one of the most inventive tricks I’ve ever seen in a rhythm game. Rather than explain it, I just recorded myself playing it on the real desktop that I definitely use every day. 7th Beat Games’ Hafiz Azman tells me the level was inspired by the team’s friend, TaroNuke, who used the moving window gimmick as part of an open-source Stepmania mod(opens in new tab) called NotITG. “He’s based in the UK and has been holding an IRL NotITG sight-reading tournament every year for many years now,” writes Azman, “where gimmicks like that are thrown at participants, it’s amazing.” As for Rhythm Doctor, while there’s no firm release date yet, you can get access to the latest demo by preordering the game on Itch(opens in new tab). How have I missed Rhythm Doctor? We gave it a brief mention last year, but I guess I missed that.

20+ Handmade Levels.

The first I heard of it was last week at GDC. Walking past the IGF booth, I saw a guy with headphones on, bobbing his head while mashing a huge button. Curious, I walked over. I saw an on-screen cardiograph and a little samurai bobbing its little head. I was hooked from there. Rhythm Doctor is a rhythm game by Hafiz Azman and Winston Lee. Their game was an IGF 2014 Student Competition Entrant this year, and I’m glad for that, because now I’m obsessed with it, and will be actively tracking it. Being a rhythm game aficionado, I stepped up to the controls with perhaps too much confidence. A game inspired by one of my favorites, Rhythm Heaven? One where you only have to press a single button on the seventh beat? I’ve got this, I thought. Nope. This game is hard. If your rhythm isn’t spot on, you’re going to fail. And even if it is, the game is throwing every obstacle in the book at you to throw you off. A new boss demo I tried was unbelievable! It threw in glitches aplenty, as well as graphical hiccups to match.Strip Fighter 5 Chimpocon Edition

Beats dropped as the screen went fuzzy, and then black. I tried my best to maintain the beat and my concentration, and I just barely made it out.The music is fantastic. I was blown away by the quality of the tracks, and then blown away once more when the composer told me that this was his first go at making music for a game. I’m still amazed that they had to go in and tweak the engine to match with each glitch and audio trip up to get the timing accurate.I can heap praise on this game all day, but you’re better off watching the videos or trying out the browser-based demo. Even if you’ve checked it out before, please try this new build. It’s deliciously difficult, and that’s really what keeps me coming back. Well, that and the fantastic music. This game is similar to Rhythm Heaven, in that, it’s not just the typical rhythm game where you wait for a shape to go into another shape to the beat. Well, you do do that to some degree, but it doesn’t just leave you with that and call it a day. It does something unique in almost every level.

Save Lives With Your Spacebar.

An example being Act 1’s boss. Act 1’s boss tries to distract you with its visuals, but if you keep your rhythm, you can do it no problem. I absolutely love this kind of thing in games. It introduces new mechanics that feel great. Act 2 is definitely my favorite act of the entire game. It’s music is just my absolute favorite. Specifically, 2-3 and 2-3 Night Shift. It’s boss level is really good too and blew my mind with something I didn’t even know could be done until I played the game, I thought it was a bug at first. I feel like everyone did. Act 3 I won’t lie kind of had me annoyed for a bit, but the level with the elderly woman was really nice. IT’s boss probably made me the most emotional which was something I wasn’t expecting this game to do. That’s what immediately placed it in one of my favorite games of all time. Act 4 has some great levels and mechanics as well. I thought it was neat. It gets real difficult though. The final boss of this game is so good. It just completely throws off the sense of rhythm you’ve built up.Digimon Survive

I absolutely love it though, it was one of the coolest curve balls I’ve gotten from a rhythm game. Now the ones I wasn’t expecting were these tear jerker tracks. All The Times (2-X), One Shift More (3-x), and Helping Hands are such emotional tracks. I’ll admit, I’m kind of dumb, I don’t 100% understand what’s being sung about in All The Times, my guess is lovers not wanting to be apart, needing each other to overcome their problems. That’s what I gathered from it. But regardless, the song’s music makes me feel emotional. It’s just got this power yet somberness behind it, it’s so good. One Shift More I knew immediately was about how stressed out doctors are, which I didn’t too much about before playing, but it brought that issue to my attention and sent an important message to someone just pressing spacebar. Helping Hands just did it in for me. Such a good song with another important message about how doctors have this feeling of guilt of patients they keep waiting, patients they could’ve saved and patients they couldn’t save.

Every level introduces a different concept of rhythm theory in an accessible way.

It just hit me like a truck and I enjoyed every second of it. I would recommend this game to absolutely everybody. It’ll be a bit difficult if you’re not usually someone who plays rhythm games, but it’s sound track, it’s charm, it’s just too good to miss. It’s a roughly 2-3 hour game, but I find myself coming back to either try and FC some levels or just play it, because even after I’ve FC’d a level, I still really enjoy it’s music and gameplay. This is honestly one of my favorite games of all time, and I discovered it on a whim, which is crazy. The extra content they put in the game as well is some of it’s best too. I just hope it gets some more original content sometime, I love their levels and their story and characters. I ain’t touchin’ the community levels though, you guys are crazy lmao, but good job. I just want to thank the developers for making this game and making it such a masterpiece, despite how short it is. I would buy a sequel/DLC in a heartbeat. I love this game so much. Rhythm Doctor is a rhythm game about shocking patients’ hearts back in sync with their heartbeats to save their lives.

You press a single button on the 7th beat to defibrillate each patient. It sounds simple but each level has a unique illnesses based on complex music theory: polyrhythms, hemiolas, irregular time signatures. Unlike other rhythm games that make things more challenging by adding more buttons and more beats to match, Rhythm Doctor ups the difficulty with unusual timing and various methods of distracting you from your task. There are patients suffering from wi-fi jamming bacteria that mess with your connection and glitch out the beats you can see. There are patients with an irregular time signatures or unexpected remixes of the songs. It’s fun and funny in a bonkers kind of way. At one point there’s a song about overworked doctors and the politicians who are turning the public against them. The combination of this unusual approach to gameplay, some great music, an overarching story to follow and the inventive distractions result in a completely joyous experience. Add to this the way the game introduces different concepts of rhythm theory in an accessible way and this is works very well for families. You can even make and share your own levels.

Rhythm Doctor puts you, a trainee doctor, into the emergency room with a room full of sick and dying patients. In order to save the lives of your 8-bit patients, you need to watch their ECG and hit the spacebar on the seventh beat. The funky background music gives you the tempo and keeps you on track. You start nice and easy with one patient and one heartbeat, but don’t get cocky – things quickly get complicated when multiple patients present at the same time, and their heartbeats are all on different rhythms. Rhythm Doctor is reminiscent of Guitar Hero and similar games. The concept is incredibly simple, but incredibly well executed. The characters are fun and each patient has their own quirk and theme music. You even get to work with ‘boss’ characters, who glitch the ECG machine and make life incredibly hard for you. Rhythm Doctor will have you bopping along to the music while you try madly to save your little pixelated patients.Isn’t it an amazing feeling when you go to a concert and the drum beat matches your heart beat? Music has been shown to have restorative powers, and that concept is taken to the extreme in Rhythm Doctor, a one-button game in which you rely on the power of rhythm to save lives.Octopath Traveller
