To echo some other reviews, on the surface it was interesting but after the second day you quickly understand how bare the game is. The game only shows more of its flaws the further you progress. I ended up finishing the game in less than two hours, only died once, and did it in 9 days in the warehouse. Once I realized that there was really only one actual thing to watch out for on the warehouse floors, the game became a lot less scary. The game relies a lot on accenting things with horror stingers or environmental noise to generate scare factor, and you quicky learn that only the roaming enemy with a distinctive footstep can actually hurt you. This does not change even as you unlock other areas. The only monster just becomes more numerous or slightly changes appearance. Hiding spots from the monster are frequent and it is so short sighted that you really have to try to get spotted. Squatting under a waist high crawlspace is more than enough to make the monster give up and walk away allowing you to immediately walk in the other direction as soon as he turns around. The certificates to advance to areas with items that have higher payouts i’ve found are actually downgrades. A lot of the subsequent areas require you to walk through the first area which takes way too much time to justify the increase in price of the items there.

The cat was a funny addition/motivator, but also very simple. There is no interactivity besides petting him and its boredom meter is an arbitrary time limit to how long you can spend outside your room. Packing things once you understand what to do is virtually impossible to mess up and formulaic. There were a very surprising amount of what I thought were enemies but just turned out to be set pieces to scare you. Early on in the main warehouse you’ll see a guy skittering on all fours as you walk down an aisle. Spooks you at first, but after the third time you realize he’s not actually there and conveniently only shows up right in front of you. After the 10th time you just ignore him. The same goes for environmental noises.

I will say that the game is polished. I don’t think I actually encountered any bugs while playing. I just feel like the mechanics of the game were presented but not expanded upon. Nothing actually changes as you progress in collecting the items for packing besides unlocking upgrades that reduce how many trips you need. Keypad combinations don’t become more or less difficult, finding the related rack and item does not change, and evading enemy detection doesn’t change. I would have liked to see some changes in the game’s formula or strategy instead of the only thing changing being how far and what direction I have to walk in. Time to Morp
