It is a great concept and I believe it has real potential to be amazing. Seeing insects up close and even seeing all of their internal organs during some stages was awesome! Lots of detail. I would actually like to see an option that enables labels for all the organs since I didn’t have a clue of what I was looking at.

However, controls are not intuitive and change depending on what type of insect or arachnid you are; insects become exhausted after a few seconds (not even remotely realistic there); the combat system doesn’t fit with this kind of game (insects don’t fight like that and button mashing is a silly way to go about it); there is nothing to occupy the audience/players when all life goals are completed; educational facts are intermittent at best (a real shame); planet creator has absolutely NOTHING to do with the game and serves NO purpose whatsoever; other than different views during “minigame” challenges you have to do based on gender during mating, there is no variety or differences from one life cycle to the next; x-ray vision of internal organs (something I found to be exciting and fun) is, sadly, not available for every species. There were also a few bugs (pun intended) with the game. When trying to mate as a monarch butterfly, my monarch clipped through the other monarch and they became stuck. I was forced to exit and start over. The jumping spider would just drop off the bottom of a leaf at random. And, out of curiosity, I flew my monarch as far as possible near the end of its life cycle. It died at the edge of the available world space and then the camera went insane bouncing all over the place while the music looped a couple notes. Needless to say, I had to restart as no prompts came up to begin the next life cycle.

I realize it’s a long list and this game is still in development. I do honestly want this game to become a massive success. However, after spending two hours going through the life cycle of a monarch butterfly (TWICE to test gender differences), the life cycle of a ladybug, two “challenge” levels, survival mode as a dragonfly where all you do is hunt and eat (literally), and creating a planet with no purpose… I am left wondering why I bought this.

After two hours of so much repetition and useless functions (planet creating), I was bored beyond imagining. The concept of playing through an insect’s life cycle is really cool and I’d love to see this develop into something that holds attention. For now though, this game is going into a file and being forgotten for a long time.
