This game will have you becoming a master at platforming with precision and speed! The controls are super responsive and 90% of the time, I felt responsible for my death. The slow inclusion of new skills were given at basically the perfect pace, along with the new platforms or mechanics in the levels. All of the levels gave you something new to experience, plus there was a healthy mix of incredibly challenging and more simple levels so there is less chance of becoming overly frustrated at getting stuck level after level.
I think this is a very hard game to complete (I spent literal hours on level 100), but being able to turn off the rising lava can help a lot. Plus once you know the level well enough, you might find shortcuts or the most optimum was of clearing it. All of the levels offer a huge dopamine release when you clear them! I highly recommend for anyone who lives these precision platformers!

The game’s first-person speedrunning can be pretty engaging, but I did start to have noticeably less fun during the difficulty spike of the last third of the game. For comparison, before the final third, most of the levels are satisfying to sight-read and can be completed in one or two attempts. While eventually upping the difficulty is necessary for a game that wants to go this fast, my sense of the game’s overall movement never arrived at a point where I felt it was consistent or controllable enough to stop the finicky levels from being headaches. I’ve got a few nitpicks. I’m fond of the chaotic energy of the backgrounds in each level, although they’re maybe too crowded and risk obscuring important visual information that needs to be registered in a split second. I can’t help but notice that the overuse of portals as the game progresses is a cover for a lack of clever, interconnected level designs that should’ve organically guided the player to where they need to go. Similarly, there are a few types of obstacles that automatically move your cursor to face you in the right direction. This may sound convenient, but it takes control of the camera away from the player in an uncomfortable way that also demonstrates a failure to intuitively show the player where they’re going.

Despite some frustration, the majority of the game did leave a remarkably positive impression. And to its credit, the Hell of an Office takes an easy-to-understand movement system and goes interesting places with it. I also enjoyed the humor of the heavy-handed workplace metaphor offices that you traverse between chapters, even if they tended to run a little long. Mad Father Switch NSP
