Forts Free Download GAMESPACK.NET The nature of war is a hotly contested within the gaming space. Those in fear of impending nuclear annihilation will quickly remind you that war, war never changes, while a particularly nanomachine addled old soldier would argue the opposite. Still, some may see war as little more than worms aiming bazookas at each other, Forts takes the latter approach to the whole ordeal. EarthWork Games’ Forts is a strange mash-up of a physics simulation and a 2-D real-time strategy game, in the same vein as the Worms franchise or the much older Artillery Duel. Players are stationed on opposing sides of the map and take shots at each other in real time while trying to build and fortify their bases. The art style is cutesy and inoffensive, against the backdrop of interminable war. There is a story here, but it’s nothing to get super excited about. Oil has become an extremely rare resource, and the campaign sees the three factions, flimsy ciphers for the United States, Russia, and Germany, vying for the last major oil deposit. The whole thing is portrayed in a pretty silly way, with the Eagle Empire spouting catch phrases and hashtags and the Dragon Empire portrayed as bumbling Nazis.TOP/BEST ADULT VIDEO GAMES IN UNITED STATES OF AMERICA (USA)

It can be fairly obnoxious, but there’s so little of it that it’s not really a problem. All you need to know is that there’s a bad guy and you should probably blow him up before he blows you up. The combat is pretty enjoyable. By building and activating weapon emplacements, the player will take aim at the opposing fort and pepper them with rockets and mortars while defending with machine guns. Hitting the perfect shot and blowing up a gun emplacement is always satisfying and useful, though it hurts plenty when they do the same to you. That constant push and pull is the mark of a good match, though it is fairly rare in the campaign. Base building in Forts, however, is where things get really interesting. In Forts, both sides build their structures simultaneously, in real time. This plays similarly to the bevvy of physics-based bridge building games. Create your fort by building struts and connecting them to things to provide the most stability while reinforcing problem areas and prevent your base from falling apart. It’s simple enough until you do this with an opponent barraging you with incendiary mortar fire. Watching an opponent building their base adds an interesting tension and ensures that more competitive matches are fast paced and fun.

The weapons all fulfil different purposes and the way they all knit together can be fairly interesting. You’ll need your snipers for precise attacks and paint targets for your rockets, but you don’t want them exposed to too much danger. Steel doors can do a lot to keep that little guy safe, but the time it takes to get them open might make it hard to time a weakness when it’s exposed. Machine gunners are great for intercepting rockets and mortar fire, but could do so much more damage when upgraded to Gatling guns, at the cost of their defensiveness. An incendiary mortar is great against wooden structures but pack far less of a punch than their less flaming counterparts. The single player campaign is pretty short, and feels more like a tutorial for more advanced levels of play. The skirmishes and multiplayer are where the real meat of Forts is at. Sadly, however, public multiplayer is bogged down with poor net code and frequent connection errors. It seems that private lobbies are still viable, but that is little comfort to friendless war gamers like myself. Forts is an interesting game that offers a lot of fun for fans of the genres it employs. HunterX

Long time players of 2-D strategy games, or even their turn based cousins, like the Worms series, will derive a lot of enjoyment from deceptively strategic battles here. Fans of physics building simulators will find a classic formula with a few new elements thrown into the mix. Fans of both will want to give this a look without question. I look forward to the multiplayer getting fixed and the addition of mod support. Forts is advertised as a “physics based RTS”, what this means is it’s a side-on 2D game, with one team on the left of the screen, one team on the right (here I am, stuck in the middle with you) and your objective is to destroy the other team, like in Worms. However, Forts doesn’t just have you trying to kill single enemies, in this game you have to destroy, wait for it …Forts! In each level of Forts your goal is to create a kick ass base that’ll defend the generator to your fort while having the firepower to destroy the enemy’s base, usually by blowing up their power generator. get a variety of upgrades for your base that allows you to improve the weapons and soldiers your base can construct, each having their niche purpose to help you take down your enemies.

28 mission single-player campaign.

On the surface it’s pretty simple, but if you want to master Forts you’ll have to take some time and really listen to the hints and tips given to you throughout its campaign. Its campaign mode is set in a post-apocalyptic world where everyone has their own private army and are fighting over the world’s greatest treasure: oil. Yes, insert your early 2000’s George W. Bush jokes here. Each level will have it’s own set of objectives for you to complete, along with the overall goal of destroying the enemy. Meeting all your objectives will give you the full three star rating, and allow you to unlock more parts of the map easier. Along with its campaign mode, Forts also has online multiplayer. Here up to 8 players can compete in co-op or deathmatch. Forts also has a skirmish mode but the aim’s the same: build a fort, destroy enemy before enemy destroys you. There’s nothing different to the modes, but it does increase the game’s life cycle, as the 28 missions from the campaign won’t take you too long to complete. Forts is a simple, fun game, has a nice sense of humour and is guaranteed to get your brain whirling as you figure out the best way to build your base, defend your weapons while also pelting the enemy with bullets and bombs. Unfortunately you’ll probably complete it with minimal fuss, but the developers do claim Forts has been made with modding in mind. Whether this will lead to the community making this game bigger and better will have to be seen. The enemy commander stood in his fort, quite smug in the knowledge that his machine gunners had been proficient at shooting down any attempt I had made to dent his walls. I could see him through my binoculars, laughing with his subordinates. Little did he know that I had developed a more powerful cannon that would hopefully wipe the smirk off his comical looking face. Soon, it would be me that would be laughing. Forts is a game that at its core, plays along the lines of the old Tanks game where two opponents sat at either side of a screen and took turns to take pot shots at each other until one tank was destroyed. Instead, in Forts you take control of a fort and its weapons and attempt to obliterate your opponents fort and its power generator before he destroys yours. The main difference being that in Forts also adds resource gathering and structure building into the mix.  The Campaign mode is a great place to learn all of the game’s skills.

Build forts of any size and shape, as you fight.

Slowly introducing each of the elements as you progress through the different scenarios. With a relatively mild learning curve, the game introduces each of the building resources as well as the various structures and weapons that will be required to defeat the enemy. There are three factions that you’ll play as: the Eagle Empire, Iron Bear Alliance and the Dragon Army. In the Campaign, there are no real differences between each. Initially, the valuable resources of energy and metal are limitless, but as you progress, these resources must be harvested in order to be able to build and defend your fort. Weapons will also need to be upgraded in order to destroy the improved armour of the enemy. The aim for each mission in the Campaign is to destroy the enemy fort (as it is in the other modes), but each campaign mission has two secondary goals. Completing these secondary goals, in addition to the primary goal of destroying the fort, unlocks further campaign missions. Missions are generally quite short and can be played within five to ten minutes (the later levels can take a bit longer), allowing gamers to have a quick session during lunch or study breaks.

The campaign mode is rather enjoyable, although I did find that the levels began to have an aura of similarity after awhile. The developers have attempted to correct this by including some well set out maps, adding challenging scenarios to the gameplay. Apart from the lengthy Campaign mode, Forts comes complete with a plethora of game modes. Skirmish allows gamers to play a single level within a range of scenarios. Multiplayer is the same, but played between two human competitors. Skirmish (and multiplayer) also introduce commanders into the game. Each of the commanders offer the gamer a boost in a specific area. Eagle Eye, for instance will enable better targeting of weapons, whilst Architect enables quicker building of weapons and structures. I have to admit, multiplayer was a far different proposition to the AI campaign, and one that was a heap of fun. And if you think the skirmish and multiplayer maps aren’t your cup of tea, then you can go and make your own in the Map Editor. The editor is reasonably easy to use and once you’ve completed your ultimate design, it is always fun to test it out with a friend. Building up your forts is really simple. The team at EarthWork Games have done a great job at designing the layout of the interface.

The weapons, devices and building materials are all located within a specific tab along the bottom of the screen, without detracting from the important vision of the game itself. Gamers can zoom in and out depending on their task at hand. Zooming in when building makes it easier to work out where each brace and beam should go. But then zooming out allows you to see where to attack from a better distance. The repair function works remarkably well too, allowing gamers to concentrate (assuming they have enough resources) on building or attacking whilst not having to repair everything manually. Forts has a look akin to the Worms series (the 2D variety), with lots of colour and cartoonish characters that guide you through the levels. The comical nature of the characters and the colourful visuals make Forts seem suited to youngsters, and although the early campaign missions are quite simple, younger gamers may struggle with completing some of the secondary goals in later missions. The cute visuals, combined with some of the humorous dialogue give Forts a fun atmosphere. The fact that weapons have a modern feel whilst the forts have a historic look only adds to the silliness of the game.Forts has been well designed and implemented. Scorn
