Die in the Dungeon  Download GAMESPACK.NET

My marker of an early access game being worth buying is always the same question. “If this game never received an update, would I still be happy with my purchase?” The answer for Die in the Dungeon is an easy yes, mainly because I got sent a free copy by the dev teams (how about that for a disclosure) but if you’ve read my reviews before you know that means nothing to how I review games, and if this is your first time reading a review of mine, now you know. That being said, 10 bucks is a steal. I was actually extremely excited to receive an email about a review copy of this game because I played the demo almost a year ago at this point during a NextFest and loved it, and I am happy to say that the version they are launching into early access with took everything I loved in the demo and added to it. There is way more polish, way more mechanics, way more build paths and way more for you to unlock and see as the player. If Die in the Dungeon was “content complete” with its current build, I would be happy with it. Cinnabunny

Thankfully, theyre insane and adding a buttload more content. In the time I played (before they had achievements in the build available to us) to now (launch) they have added, pardon my french, a sh*tton of quality of life updates. When I first got into the game there was a lack of information at times as to what certain effects did and it was easy to forget because there are a lot of keywords, some with similar effects. I kept having to go into the codex to see what certain effects were. Now you can hover over anything and it tells you exactly what effect it has, what each dice has applied to it, and the information is all right there for you to make decisions with.

And this is just a side note if the dev team reads this, I beg of you, put this game on mobile. It is PERFECT for mobile and I can attest to the potential of a morbillion dollars for a quality game on mobile, they’ve only got Balatro and Slice & Dice, they could use another banger. I really appreciate how the game rolls out the different mechanics to you as you progress, with each zone adding a host of new dice to mess with as well as new effects and levels to your dice. Even the way that you unlock the two characters beyond the starter is pretty fair (the fat guy is my favorite).

I had two worries with the game that are both not really issues. First is that it was a bit too easy once you figured out the good stuff to pick up. Getting and upgrading free 0 cost triangle dice is huge, the double dip effect is nuts (draws another dice when you draw the double dip dice, basically a free dice with every hand). Thankfully, after I beat the game the first time with an insane regen build on the assassin frog where I had 67 regen per turn, the game goes “Nice! Now go play the higher difficulties.” There’s already ascension levels like in STS which is great. My one worry that’ll be solved with time is that some of the dice and effects feel worthless to take at the moment, but with early access and a whole slew of new players to give feedback on what is and isn’t working the game will evolve into a much more balanced on with time. Balance meaning everything is viable, not everything is equal, I hope. I support very few early access projects and I positively review even less. This is one of those games, thanks for reading and follow my curator page for more reviews.
