I’ve finished this. I hated it before then realised I just didnt get it. Then I got angry and I decided to git Gud and now I hate it even more. Once I actually put way more energy than i should of into this i realised alot of what is expected of you is completely ridiculous and unreasonable. Especially when the game is a broken clunky mess. I realised what made it difficult was the fact that miyazaki gave you a game to play and then didnt tell you how to play it. Didnt make the mechanics fun or good in anyway. And then punished you for not knowing how to play it or being able to play the game properly using said awful mechanics. And that is why i can say you are right to hate this, its Completely terrible. The game has a good story that gets fairly intricate at times and the scenery is done pretty well but apart from that the game is a shambles.

The combat is clunky as we all know, sometimes you can kill enemies through walls and they can always kill you through walls. This is due to the disastrous ways the hit boxes have been developed. The character is too slow, to the point where you actually dont have even a slight chance of defeating some enemies unless you are a higher level. Which I find odd because the way they framed the story and way they want you to interact with the game as a whole tells me that they wanted it to be skill based. Making me grind enemies for an hour to finally be a higher level is irritating and counter intuitive and undermines the entire gameplay.

Movement physics are trash. The character is awful to control and it takes a while to get anywhere which is made twice as much of an issue when paired with the terrible combat mechanics I previously mentioned They also have little puzzles where you have to run and jump to access hidden areas but the way the mechanics work isnt built for this so you will die many times. It’s obvious this isnt by design which makes it a bad choice because if it is by design, why would you make it so down right irritating to get hidden items. You’re meant to reward me for exploring not punch me in the face just for trying to have fun and play your game. Prison Escape Simulator:
