Much love, devs! I was already going to buy and be content based off the demo last year, but this exceeded my expectations. It’s not that I recognize something new in the genre, but it’s done well: like comfort food, but made by someone who really knows what they’re doing. My wish is that you could do something in support of these old eyes. It’s a nice enough font, but too small and I have to guess at what the text says sometimes.

As someone who isn’t a super fan of very difficult games(To the point of feeling arbitrarily unfair), but is a fan of roguelikes (I know right) This game hits a sweet spot for me. Border Pioneer is a tower defense, town builder, with rts battles free of micro, magic spells to use mid combat, and diverse leader and card/tech tree selection. For a day one launch of an affordable title like this it utterly shocked me by how much fun I’ve had, I put 11 hours in from Fri/Saturday alone! Probably bad for my homework progress, but fantastic for my stress levels. Border Town

And if you’re a fan of higher difficulty I’ve beaten the first difficulty up, but the second not so much, it’s pretty hard and each mission is progressively more difficult/complex, so I think there’ll be something for everyone! Plus the leaders can make your strategies more or less complex. Want to simplify defense? Go with the old pikeman, you’ll be able to build nothing but infantry and focus on an aggressive pikewall with some defenses to plug gaps. Want a complex maze of interdependent defenses? Go for the druid and build a huge forest.
