Blur Free Download GAMESPACK.NET The single-player Career mode in Blur features some brutal A.I. While I was desperately trying to master my drifting skills and just maneuver the game’s treacherous tracks, the A.I. was busy launching attack after attack on me at the most inopportune moments. You see, in the world of Blur, despite all its real-world trappings, cars can’t just race and see who drives the fastest — they have to launch weapons at one another as well. This isn’t that big of a problem in the smaller races of up to 10 cars, but in the larger races with 20 opponents, chaos will ensue, making racing frustratingly difficult on the Normal skill level. It’s one thing to be a great driver who can pull off awesome turns amidst a swarm of opponents, but it’s quite another thing to do so while explosions are going off every few seconds as well. Sometimes the A.I.’s ability to take me from first to 20th place with a barrage of shots just felt downright cheap. TOP/BEST ADULT VIDEO GAMES IN UNITED STATES OF AMERICA (USA)

Not that all the Career events were lessons in frustration. I actually enjoyed the Destruction levels, where you have to shoot enemies to gain time and points, and the Checkpoint stages where you’re racing against the clock. But I think it’s telling that the best levels in the game’s Career mode were the ones where you generally were tasked with a single goal like attacking or racing, rather than having to combine the two together as the standard race mode makes you do. I eventually swallowed my pride and switched it to Easy in the latter portions of the Career mode, but found these races to be too little a challenge. Granted, it made gathering “lights” — the in-game collectibles you get for placing in a race or for completing specific objectives in an event — much easier, but the thrill of beating worthwhile opponents was largely lost. Still, If you are going to slog through the single-player to unlock some items, Easy is a good way to go, especially if you want to focus on gathering “fans” by doing tricks and hurting opponents with weapons.

Fans actually play a huge role in Blur, and while they’re really just an arbitrary number rather than people you can see, they do give you a nice set of goals to constantly strive for. Fans are gained by driving well, doing specific objectives in a level, or by attacking opponents. You can gain lights for getting a certain level of fans in a given stage, but the primary purpose of fans is to unlock new tiers of cars for your use. While fans didn’t make the racing fun in the face of being blasted repeatedly by my opponents, the constant sense of reward I got from seeing little numbers pop up as I hurt the other drivers, or worked towards some overall goal for my rival, started to scratch that same itch that competitive FPS games like Modern Warfare do. Perhaps with a more balanced A.I., or more options to tune them for a greater variety of skills as, say, other contemporary racing games are doing, Blur could have been an addiction for me. Not that facing off against humans is much better. Sure, there’s something to be said for how much fun it can be smashing your friends with a well placed weapon, but the 20 player online matches quickly devolve into a chaotic mess where getting first is a secondary concern to just trying to survive in the flurry of firearms. Thankfully this is largely not a problem in the game’s fun team-based races and battle modes or in the smaller, 10-player races, which are the best way to play Blur online. If you care about unlocking a bunch of items and doing an experience grind, then Blur’s online has you covered, with a host of items and mods — stat boosting items to help you in combat — to unlock. To me, a game like Blur is at is best when I’m playing with a few friends, which is why the inclusion of four-player split-screen is fantastic. Car-crushing damage modeling for the game’s 50-plus recognizable vehicles—including notables like the Dodge Viper ACR, Renault Mégane Trophy and Audi R8. Blur shocks, blasts and smashes these machines at every turn (your car is restored to gleaming newness with a time penalty after a wreck), and from my first race on, the mayhem kept me enthralled. Bizarre didn’t code Blur’s arcade driving physics—especially the difficult-to-execute drifting mechanics—at a terribly authentic level. Precision driving immediately took a back seat to efficient power-up harvesting; I raced my selected ride through the game’s attractively rendered international venues, like the rollercoaster Hollywood hills and Barcelona’s historic and challenging cobblestone streets, desperately seeking respawning power-ups to save my own skin or rip off that of my opponents. The single-player game revolves around a nine-chapter opus of races, time-trials and destruction events where your heroics can earn “lights” and “fans” (replacing PGR’s old kudos system) that unlock new vehicles, venues and AI bosses. I particularly liked the openness of the game’s progress tree that lets you replay past events with faster, newly acquired cars. When it works, the 20-person multiplayer operates seamlessly, though the game’s online headcount was surprisingly thin shortly after release. To add to my loneliness, Blur doesn’t support any sort of in-game chat. Fortunately, there’s the two to four-player splitscreen mode. Released simultaneously for the Xbox 360 and PS3, Blur’s PC edition seems hastily cobbled-together in some spots. The graphics are pleasing enough and run smoothly, but the visuals just don’t impress next to other recent games.

That Land Rover has a mean streak

You can also set aside that expensive racing wheel, because Blur’s limited controller support rebuffs almost everything except an Xbox 360 gamepad. The game’s MIA cockpit view, mouseless GUI screens and fixed key bindings add further angst to PC racers. Regardless, Blur remains a thoroughly enjoyable and addictive combat racer that challenges gamers to develop a heavily caffeinated level of situational awareness. Avoiding hazards like lightning domes, homing missiles and opponent-deployed mines as you struggle to repair and shield your car—while also returning fire—can be tremendously satisfying, and the game nails these elements. A well-engineered system of rewards and unlockables (in both MP and single-player) adds truckloads of replayability. Despite all the fancy rewards and destructive weapons in Blur, the most important aspect is still the driving, and thankfully, it’s a blast to take to the road. Tails The Backbone Preludes

This is a fast-moving game where quick reflexes are paramount to success, and the controls rarely get in the way of your chance to grab the checkered flag. You can smoothly glide between competitors, dodge land mines and missiles without any worry, and take tight turns at top speeds–at least after a bit of practice. The drifting is a bit stiff, and it can take a little finesse to steer yourself around corners without slamming into the wall. This stiffness can be mitigated by selecting a vehicle with more grip, allowing you to stay fully in control when cornering at the expense of speed. But once you get a handle on the timing needed to perform a perfect drift, it’s a rush to scream around corners with style. The early portions of the single-player campaign make it easy to learn how to drive on the fly, but the challenges become stiffer once you get deeper into the game. There are 63 events to compete in, topped off by nine bosses that are none too pleased that you’re trying to wrest their racing crowns from them.

There are three unique event types: racing, checkpoint, and destruction. In racing, you test your mettle against up to 19 other drivers, squealing around corners and unleashing weapons to claw your way to the top. Checkpoint removes the weapons and competitors, and the game is just as fun when you’re focused on the smooth driving without anything to distract you from the road. Destruction flips that idea around, forcing you to dispatch as many nameless drivers as possible before your time is up. With only three different event types, there isn’t a ton of variety, but the action is so engaging and fun that it hardly matters that your overall objective doesn’t change much. A lot of the enjoyment comes from the secondary objectives you need to complete. Every action you take in Blur is tracked and tallied, and rewards are doled out when you reach certain milestones. Rewards include new cars and passive modifications, giving you plenty of control over your on-track strategy.
