I understand this game is in early access, but there’s a widespread bug in the game that’s affecting many players where if you tame and put animals on your home island, they will randomly disappear even though they still exist on the island’s log (list of current animals.) The animals will be on the log, on paper, but not exist on your island. What this means is you will continue to lose animals you put the effort into collecting and they will just be deleted. You may ask yourself why this matters if you haven’t played the game. Well in order to harvest loot, materials and even progress/tech, you must make sure an island is cleansed AND balance its ecosystem. The most difficult part of attaining 100% balance ecosystem is making sure there’s enough animals on each island. You can remove excess animals from healthy islands, but the moment you take one and it’s -1 animal, that island is suddenly locked and you can’t take anymore resources from it unless you return that -1 animal. What ends up happening is that you will continue to find corrupted or imbalanced islands and the demand for animals quickly overwhelms your supply. It’s essentially impossible to “balance” every island you come across and you eventually just take what you can and leave the previous island imbalanced and move on. WELL, if the animals you collect on your home island randomly disappear, your progress can easily get messed with and bricked. You can and will find yourself “Stuck” not being able to properly access new islands for progression, whether its due to an animal or even having the right insect.

In order to get to the 2nd biome of the game, you need to get a loom in order to process wool to make wool sails to sail into that biome. If you need animals to access an island on the way to unlocking that loom, you can get completely messed thanks to the bug and its frustrating. I’m currently in the 2nd biome, but my last sheep/llama just disappeared, which means if i want to continue getting wool, I need to return to the first biome and suffer even more. Also the new animals i tamed are disappearing now as well. It’s just not worth the headache. The game as it is now gives you a VERY simple gameplay loop. You may or may not find that simple gameplay loop enjoyable. I’m not saying this game doesn’t have a decent simplistic concept or foundation, but i am saying that whether you like it is a coin-toss.
