The Unliving Free Download GAMESPACK.NET When I first saw The Unliving I was intrigued by the premise. I am not the biggest fan of rogue-lite games. I generally like Pikmin style games though where you control a group of minions that do your bidding. The idea of playing as a necromancer was interesting as well since each enemy you kill would just increase your number of minions. The Unliving has intriguing potential, but has a few things it needs to work on before its final release. In The Unliving you play as the Necromancer. You wake up with no memory of your past. To regain your memories and recoup your power, you must destroy anyone that stands in your way. The Unliving is a mixture of a rogue-lite game mixed with minion control mechanics. The game is broken into runs. You have one life to complete your mission. If you lose all of your health you temporarily “die”, and return to your headquarters. From there you can use the resources you earned on your last run to purchase upgrades as well as talk with your cult members. When you are ready you can then begin a new run from the beginning. As the Necromancer you have access to a number of attacks including a melee slash attack and a ranged attack. You will acquire additional special abilities in your run which use various resources you acquire from killing enemies. Your health is broken up into sections. Once you lose a section of health you can only recover it my acquiring a special item. When you lose all of your health, your run ends. Since you are wildly outnumbered, you need more than just your own attacks. With the ability of a necromancer, you can raise the dead to help you. You can resurrect any enemy you defeat to fight on your side. In order to resurrect an enemy you need to defeat all of the enemies in its group. Then with the press of a button, all of them become your minions to guide. Guiding your minions is rather simple as you just need to press the right mouse button to guide them. Your horde of minions will move to the location that you click on and attack nearby enemies. Your minions have a limited amount of health though and will decay over time. When they are close to death, you can sacrifice a minion in order to gain a temporary special ability.

TURN ENEMIES INTO YOUR UNDEAD ARMY.

The main reason The Unliving intrigued me when I first saw it was due to the necromancy minion mechanics. The idea of commanding an ever-growing horde of the undead had promise. In some ways I think the game succeeds, and in others I think it needs some refining before the final version. I think The Unliving has a good foundation in place. The idea of controlling a horde of undead is fun. While you start with only a few minions, your forces grow pretty quickly. Every enemy you defeat increases your own army after all. You will eventually have a substantial army which can overrun most enemies that you encounter. The game controls fairly well. The gameplay is quite strightforward. You move with the typical WASD, and there are a couple of buttons that use the special abilities that you acquire.Otherwise the left mouse button attacks with the Necromancer and the right mouse button directs your minions on where they should go next. It is surprisingly satisfying once you acquire a large army. When you have a large enough army you can easily swarm a group of enemies and take them down quickly. Sifu Switch XCI

You feel pretty powerful when you have a good run. You aren’t so powerful that you can be careless, but you sometimes get to the point where you can sit back and watch your horde tear down the enemy and create an even larger army for yourself. This can be a little hit or miss though. I think a lot of this is due to the game’s rogue-lite mechanics. You will die regularly in the game. You don’t get to carry any of your gained abilities or other upgrades into the next run. Thankfully you get to purchase upgrades which seem to make you more powerful. To actually succeed in the game you pretty much need to die in order to upgrade your character. Maybe I just got unlucky, but my first couple of runs didn’t go far. After some upgrades though I did start to do better. Maybe this was due to getting better at the game, or maybe the upgrades are really helpful. I was lucky enough to acquire a beta copy of a game that I really wanted to play. The concept of The Unliving is strong and simple, hyper-focusing on the single fantasy archetype that other people like myself are dying to play: the necromancer. From the tabletop to ARPG games.

UNLOCK THE SECRETS OF NECROMANCY.

There are many titles that explore the archetype, but few that make playing a necromancer and controlling their minions focused and direct. The Unliving has a beautiful art style. The color palette, character designs, pixelated sprites, and digital art all work together wondrously. The sea of greens and purples give the feeling of something unnatural and undead while also complementing the nighttime shades of the environment. It’s all tied together well with little details, like the ornate bone-motif armor of the main character necromancer. Speaking of the necromancer, I dig the character design — he kinda has the look of one of the ghoul members of the band Ghost B.C. You can clearly see it. On the opposite side, you have the design of the human enemies. They also fit seamlessly, contrasting with the nighttime color palette without detracting from the game’s overall look and feel. They’re easy to identify, but not distracting. I gotta give props to the developers and their artists who brought to life a fantastic design language that is vivid and gloomy; readable and functional. One critique though: the UI needs a bit of tinkering since there are elements in the HUD that are a bit bland. Didnapper 2

Giving some options a sort of “greyed-out” appearance. Slight adjustments to the hue of certain icons can fix this. In The Unliving, you’ll get various living humans and creatures that you can resurrect, each with its own skill set. You must be careful because these skills consume your lifeforce (or lifespark as the game calls it), which is the Necromancer’s magic. The top left side of the UI shows this with a green bar. Also, keep in mind that when you’re also activating each of your undead’s spells or skills, they will die instantly. So a good tip is to kill the ones with the lowest health. The largest army you can control can go above 100. However, getting at least 40 to 50 undead at your disposal is enough to survive one area. I can assume that each world has its boss that you can raise from the dead since I’ve only cleared the Burial Isle twice. It can become a bit overwhelming with so many things happening on screen, hindering visibility. This is not because of “bullet hell” gameplay but the challenge of finding your Necromancer in the middle of a huge undead army. It can get annoying when you’ve made it to the “boss” area, and you suddenly die without being aware of the cause.

CONQUER UNCHARTED LANDS.

Meet colorful characters – friends and foes alike. Question members of your own necromantic cult, force answers out of your enemies and even dialogue your own phylacterium – to gather the lost memories of the Necromancer piece by piece and reveal the nature of his immortality. Who knows, may be you also find out the grim truth about the supreme hierarchies of the Church. The world is randomly generated for each run and is richly populated with an array of creatures, artefacts, secret rooms and deadly traps. Each part of the world is occupied by a variety of living inhabitants – invade villages and slay feeble peasants to reinforce your army or engage in a desperate fight to the death in the swamps against formidable foes. The realm of the living has been corrupted to its core and a storm is coming to change the world order. This storm is you, a mighty Necromancer, a sorcerer who denies death and leads the legions of the dead. Clerics and lords hope to hide behind high walls, but there’s no stronghold to cover them from your wrath.

Smite hundreds of those standing in your way and turn them into your tools on the way to a greater purpose. The Unliving is a dynamic rogue-lite action RPG with strategic elements. Raise the undead, use numerous spells and explore a mystical world, all realised with darkly extravagant pixel-art. This is a necromancer game where you cant upgrade your army thats the first red flag. The spells are bad and almost all useless, your army cant even swarm they will only attack with like the first five and the archers cant get anywhere close. A necromancer thrives off their army but every upgrade in this game is aimed to buff the necromancer them-self, If the necromancer was strong that would be fine, but your not your weaker than your weakest undead. This should be fun, this should be great, but the undead ai, how the attacks work, and how they decided the upgrades should be ruin it. A necromancer game should be about swarming down enemies with unkillable endless waves of undead you have perfected and upgraded, but its about throwing wet paper at your enemy while you fling worthless spells of glitter at them every 30 seconds with your wraithshot that is weaker than your weakest minions basic attack hoping you kill it to replenish your army before you die.

It is possible, but it sure the hell aint fun and feels like your rolling dice hopping that the enemy dosnt decide to just walk through your army to hit you and kill you since you cant even run away. The slow walking serial killer walk only works if your strong enough and badass enough to shrug off people, and no matter the upgrades you get in this game, you wont be. With a few hours into the game I can see the split on whether to recommend it or not. I agree the game is difficult. There are upgrades you can get that, while they don’t immediately carry over into your next game, definitely can help you expand your strategy. The more you unlock, the more is available to you for growth/ability-pairing as you conduct your runs. This game does require some strategizing and quick thinking as you enter different areas. You can’t just throw a wall of undead at a group of enemies and expect things to go just fine. You have to be crafty and careful about how you progress and push a group of enemies. I think that challenge of having to take a second to think about your approach adds a depth to the game that perhaps some aren’t seeing just yet. That being said, I do wish the game was a tad more forgiving with the upgrades coming a bit quicker/more regular during a run as the game can definitely pose a challenge.  Aeterna Noctis Switch NSP
