PICROSS S8 Switch NSP  Free Download GAMESPACK.NET In a series as focused on multiplayer as Picross S, it’s always seemed odd that Nintendo and Jupiter haven’t allowed more than two players to be playing at the same time. We’ve lost track of how many times we’ve played Picross on our Switch during a major social event and could only have one other person participating, while everyone else in the room simply had to stare on wistfully and wait their turn. Lucky for us, the technology has finally been developed to allow for up to four players to play at once. This means that Picross S8 is at least twice as good as the last several games. The basic premise this time around follows blue and red cursor who discover that their parents, green and yellow cursor, have broken out of prison and are dead set on getting revenge for being framed by their children. See, there are even four characters! You do have to fill in all of the gaps yourself—there isn’t a single line of written or spoken dialogue anywhere nor are there any cutscenes after all. We’re entirely joking, of course–but with four players, there’s plenty of opportunity for gut-wrenching plot twists and payoffs that have been years in the making with your friends and family. Otherwise, in the gameplay department, this is certainly Picross. Where else can you spend five minutes parsing a confusing, but completely logical set of numbers to painstakingly craft a pixel art recreation of a urinal? But now that there can be up to four simultaneous players, you can almost certainly blame someone else for making a mistake when you get thirty minutes into a puzzle and realize all the progress you’ve collectively made in the last twenty minutes was a lie. That alone is worth the price of admission. Playing with four characters can be a cumbersome mess—a moving cursor always stops dead in its tracks if it meets another one—but there’s something about the chaos that’s quite alluring. Even if you are all technically working toward a common goal, there’s certainly little cooperation going on here, as every player’s filled-in squares are tallied and added to their point total in real-time. Most importantly, if you erase someone else’s square and fill it back in yourself, their score goes down and yours goes up. We thus experienced a few puzzles that quickly devolved into seizing and defending real estate, the actual puzzle solution be damned.

Playing with four characters can be a cumbersome mess.

It’s like an extremely primitive version of Splatoon. If you’re looking for a few hundred more puzzles to add to the collection of what must be over a thousand by now, then Picross S8 is the game for you. If a good entry point is what you’re after, Picross S8 is a decent spot, but we’d recommend you at least watch the first two seasons of the anime to get a somewhat decent grasp of the premise. Anyway, this game radiates so much power that it made the preceding seven games (or ten, if you count the spin-offs) better through updates that added universal touch support and four-player multiplayer. So go buy it. Now. Several installments of the Picross S series have been released on Nintendo Switch in recent years. However, there were not many differences between the games, which in itself is quite a shame. For example, touchscreen support would certainly be desirable, which was fortunately added in Picross S7. This Thursday, September 29, the newest installment Picross S8 with touchscreen support will be released and it will be playable with up to four players on one Switch for the first time. Embr

Is this going to be the long-awaited improvement for the Picross S series? You can read it in our review. Picross is known by several names, such as nonograms and Japanese puzzles. How it works exactly is self-explanatory. The numbers on the top and side indicate how many squares should be colored black. Although this is slightly different in Color Picross, because there you also have to use the right color for a square. In addition, you have Mega Picross and Clip Picross. Once you get the hang of the normal Picross puzzles, the other modes are fairly easy to learn. Fortunately, there is a clear explanation for each mode, so that even beginners can master this puzzle game. In addition, you can use many tools, including hint roulette, so that it is playable for every player. I’ve played the previous Picross games myself, but S8 still had plenty of challenge for me. Of course the first few puzzles are quite simple, but without tools it really gets a bit more difficult with the larger puzzles. In Picross, Mega Picross and Color Picross modes, each completed puzzle forms a picture. You might expect it to be pretty clear what an image should represent, but that is disappointing.

It’s like an especially primitive model of Splatoon.

I have the challenge for myself to guess what each puzzle should represent, but nine times out of ten I am wrong. Especially with the small simple puzzles it is so undetailed that you can’t make anything useful out of it. Only when the game reveals it do you recognize what it is with some fantasy. In the later larger puzzles it is clearer what something should represent. Of course, that’s because it can be more detailed due to its size. Personally, I think it’s a shame that everything is not equally recognizable, but I honestly wouldn’t know how that could be improved. It is simply the limitation because of the small size of the puzzle. You can expect the clearest images in Clip Picross. Clip Picross is a mode in which you solve multiple puzzles that together form a beautiful image. This makes it possible to have a large and detailed plate. Local multiplayer For the first time in the Picross S series, local multiplayer up to four players has been added. This means that you can work on the same puzzle with up to four players simultaneously on one Switch. Each person has a controller and can color the boxes that he or she thinks is correct. This way you work together to solve the puzzle. For small puzzles this is not suitable, but with large puzzles this is quite entertaining. Personally, I see the Picross game more as something you do on your own, but it’s nice to have the option to play it with up to four players together. I’ve always regretted the lack of touchscreen support in the first few installments of the Picross S series, but that changed in the previous installment. Fortunately, in Picross S8 there is touchscreen support again and via an update the previous parts will also receive touchscreen support, which I find absolutely of added value. By using the touchscreen controls, it feels much more logical to see the game as a kind of puzzle book. The button controls also feel very solid as always. All in all, there is little to criticize about the controls.  Picross S8 is what you expect from a game from the Picross S series: a mountain of puzzles, fine controls and hard-to-guess graphics. In Picross S7 touchscreen controls were added for the first time and I’m glad they put that in S8 as well.

This game radiates a lot energy that it made the previous seven video games.

This makes the game very enjoyable to play. It’s just no reason to buy S8 if you’ve finished S7, because it will also be added to all other parts of the Picross S series through an update. In S8, the local multiplayer up to four people is new, but that will also be added to the other parts through an update. All in all, Picross S8 is a decent part in the Picross S series, but it doesn’t stand out in anything. On the other hand, it is highly recommended for fans of the Picross S series or if you want to try a part. With a price of €9.99 you get dozens of hours of puzzle fun with Picross S8! Developer Jupiter has unveiled an eighth mainline instalment for its mighty Picross puzzle series on Switch, its big new addition being multiplayer support for up to four player when it launches next week. Furthermore, multiplayer and touchscreen support are reportedly being added to all previous Switch instalments at the same time. Picross S8, as this newest entry is known, follows the same familiar formula as its predecessors – each stage requiring players to complete a picture on a grid by solving numerical clues indicating which squares must be filled in – but adds a bit of spice to proceedings by letting four players put their heads together to tackle each challenge.

According to the official Picross website, it’s local multiplayer only (the trailer suggests there’s a score-based component despite everyone working co-operatively to complete the same puzzle), and each player will need their own controller to participate. In total, Picross S8 will feature 485 new stages: 300 Picross and Mega Picross puzzles, 150 Clip Picross puzzles, 30 Colour Picross puzzles, and five Extra puzzles. Three additional Extra puzzles will also unlock for owners of Picross S4, Picross S5, and Picross S6. Picross S8 comes to the Switch eShop next Thursday, 29th September, where it’ll cost £8.99/€9.99/$8.99 USD. Nintendo Life reports its release will be accompanied by an update for all previous Switch instalments of the series, adding the same multiplayer and touchscreen support seen in Picross S8. The basic premise this time around follows blue and red cursor who discover that their parents, green and yellow cursor, have broken out of prison and are dead set on getting revenge for being framed by their children.
