Moonlighter Free Download GAMESPACK.NET How many people toil away in a cubicle for 40+ hours a week while wishing they could be somewhere else instead? Whether we want to finally write that novel, find true love, or embark on a life-changing adventure, it can be hard to stay content with the tedium of our work-week rhythm month after month, year after year. We often yearn for something more meaningful, right? Moonlighter follows a merchant named Will who has inherited the family business: the eponymous Moonlighter, a humble shop within the cosy town of Rynoka. But the young man is not content to merely make a living; he has been making forays into the mysterious Dungeons on a quest to unlock their secrets and maybe make some serious dough on the side. When the old man/town elder figure Zenon discovers this dungeon-diving hobby he scolds Will, but also gifts him with a sword and shield. Armed with these and a magical Pendant that allows him to warp back to town as needed, our tale begins. Moonlighter is a top-down rogue-lite action RPG. Anyone who’s played a Legend of Zelda Game Boy title or The Binding of Isaac will feel right at home with the static-screen sensation of clearing rooms full of enemies in twitchy, real-time combat.TOP/BEST ADULT VIDEO GAMES IN UNITED STATES OF AMERICA (USA)

Even newcomers to the dungeon-crawl aesthetic will recognize the gameplay loop involved: get in, kill monsters, grab loot, get out, gear up, repeat. And, boy, is the combat satisfying. You have an attack, a more powerful secondary attack, and a dodge-roll that doubles as a jump over small gaps in the environment. You can vary your fighting style depending on what sort of weapon you use. The spears have a long reach but are not as strong as the large swords, but those are slow. The standard sword-and-shield allows you to use, well, a shield… but you can even pull out a bow and attack from long range, albeit more weakly. In fact, you can carry two weapons and switch between them instantly, so there are many combinations to form a one-two-punch of creature-slaying strategy as you see fit. Have fun finding a combo you like, ‘cause there are thousands of enemies between you and unlocking the fabled ‘Fifth Gate’. But Moonlighter adds a hook to the mix, one that will make or break the player’s impression of the game: not only do you control the warrior trying to survive hostile forces, but you are also guiding Will as a shopkeeper trying to maximize profits.

Quite literally; you get to move behind the counter and sell your looted goods, setting the prices manually for each item, gauging customer responses to decide how these prices should be changed, and dealing with challenges such as thieves or fluctuations in demand. We enjoyed fine-tuning the prices of items until townspeople were paying the highest prices we could get without them getting angry, as shown in facial-expression icons when they examine inventory. There is a real satisfaction when you have a profitable day and clear a load of stock. However, it does raise the question: are you really getting something more out of directing this process that makes it more worthwhile than just selling stuff in a quick go, like in a traditional RPG, and leaping back into the fray sooner? Indie games seem to mostly follow one of two patterns: they either reiterate on an established formula (every Meat Boy platformer out there), or they moosh up a couple of completely different game types into one. This game falls into the latter — a title that felt compelled to throw a roguelike dungeon crawler, town management title and shopkeeping game into each other to see what would happen.Intruder on the Bridge

It’s a mad recipe that I’m glad someone tried. This is our Moonlighter review. The copy I reviewed was for the Nintendo Switch version which is due on November 5th, but the game is currently out on the PS4, Xbox One and PC via a variety of distribution platforms so it’s entirely up to you which way you want to play. I’m pretty certain the Switch version carries no distinct advantages, however. Honestly, any platform for this one will do. You play the part of a young man running the titular shop of Moonlighter. Your day runs in a pretty similar circle: you go into the mysterious dungeons near your town, collect goodies from monsters, then bring them back to sell in your shop or use to craft various items. Even with that all said, however, I am oversimplifying things immensely, as the treadmills to this game run long. Yes, things are pretty grindy in the life of Moonlighter, but it’s the same sort of enjoyable grind or routine that one would get out of games like Stardew Valley or Animal Crossing or any other title where you’ve little goals to achieve. Much like Stardew Valley, there are a number of little activity hooks that kept me hopping in for more.

FIGHT WITH STYLE.

The fuel for all of these activities lies in the dungeons, which are top-down Zelda style affairs of randomly generated floors. I really wish this game didn’t lean on a trope that seems irrevocably tied to roguelike dungeon crawlers, mostly because the dungeons are just square rooms without too much variance or interest. I appreciate the reason why this was the design choice, though,, as you’ve got to stay on your toes — like any good roguelike, death means you lose pretty much all of your collected spoils. Those collected spoils are the whole point of what happens in the town. Most of your time is spent placing those items on the shelves of your shop and selling them to townspeople. This is another addicting little activity in itself, as finding the price that yields the best profit from a spectrum of customer reactions ended up being an addicting little minigame.Managing pricing and keeping an eye on supply and demand are all a part of the shopkeeping experience, but mercifully the game does a great job of helping you keep track of it all with a journal that notes everything you’d need to ensure you’re profitable.Call of Duty Advanced Warfare

There’s a sort of strategy to it all, which makes what would otherwise be a droll task feel more mentally engaging. Those profits you rake in can be applied a couple of different ways. Your money can be invested into the town itself as you provide venture capital to other shops to set up. This directly benefits you, as these shops provide services like items, weapons, armor and enchantments for your equipment. Which leads into going deeper into the dungeons. Which leads to more new stuff to sell. Which leads to more money and you get the idea by this point. For all of these attractive carrots to chase, there are a couple of minor sore spots for me. The game’s combat system feels a bit stiff, with your attacks freezing you in an animation lock as you swing your weapon. There are a lot of frames of animation in everything you do, which makes for a visually impressive piece of retro-style gaming but also means you have to stand there for a few seconds with your sword held in one place as two or three frames of animation are spent making sure your hair flaps appropriately. Once I got the cadence of weapon swings down, it became less of an issue, but it still bears mentioning.

CRAFT AND ENCHANT.

Although Will’s days are scheduled on a proper twelve month calendar, the credits will most likely roll less than halfway through the year. Moonlighter is not a particularly long game, even by its structure, but the yearly premise is more of a piece of flavouring than it is an estimation of one’s progression. In truth, months and years hardly matter. Rather, it’s the days that count. Will’s days are separated into key sections: morning and night. Although he is free to peruse the dungeons at his leisure regardless of time of day, the titular shop can only be opened during the morning. As a result, a natural rhythm is created via gameplay. Mornings are better suited for shop keeping and, nightfall is Will’s after work trek into one of Rynoka’s four dungeons. While the structure itself is fine as is, what elevates the morning/night dichotomy is the synergy between the two halves of Will’s days. Money earned during the morning can be used to buy new armour and weapons, while items found during the night can then be sold at the shop during the morning. Morning and night aren’t simply two distinct halves of the core gameplay loop, but they actually influence one another.

Considering the nature of dungeon crawling, most of the game’s play time will be spent mowing down enemies in an attempt to find valuables. Combat itself is divided into five key play styles: sword & shield, spear, big sword, gloves, and bow & arrow. With the exception of the bow, each weapon has access to a three hit combo along with a special attack for all five weapon types. For instance, pressing ‘B’ with the sword and shield equipped allows one to block incoming attacks, whereas ‘B’ creates a tracking shot with the bow. Attacking with Will requires a surprising amount of time to pull off adequately, though. While the difficulty is seldom overwhelmingly challenging, the inability to spam the ‘A’ button necessitates a more careful approach to action. After all, the protagonist is primarily a merchant, not a warrior. It is only natural he need to stagger his own attacks. At the same time, a slower approach to combat creates a certain flow in battle where enemies demand a deeper level of attention, as one poorly timed attack can result in Will taking damage. As armour does not naturally come with a defence stat, and must instead be enchanted in town.

Getting hit with freshly crafted gear can quickly lead to your death. Thankfully, Will has a dodge roll that he can trigger to get out of tight situations, emphasizing movement in combat. Although most enemies can be defeated without too much focus, boss fights do require a basic of the core mechanics. Every enemy Will defeats has the chance of dropping items. While simply going room to room and killing enemies will net him a full bag of valuables, the best items are always tucked away in treasure chests – and later ones at that. Each dungeon is divided into three core sections with each floor more difficult than the last. The deeper one goes into a dungeon, the better the more valuable the items found will be. Of course, you can only carry so many items in your backpack. With a total of 20 available slots, (five which Will keeps on his hands, and keeps in the event of his death) each slot is precious. Across three floors, some items will naturally need to be swapped out for better treasures. Although the logical solution would be to simply have him drop any items he cannot justify keeping, the first dungeon generously bestows upon him the Merchant Mirror; a mirror which turns found items into gold.
