Aquadine Switch NSP  Free Download GAMESPACK.NET Aquadine is a light-hearted, fun, wholesome journey in a town of myths and mysteries. It has a cast of quite likable characters who all have distinct personalities and solid backgrounds. The story takes place in a town built on mermaids and magic stories; because of that, the game heavily includes water themes in almost every aspect. Aquadine starts simple enough as were introduce to a boy named Ciel, a tour guide in the fictional city of Aquadine. As you progress, you soon learn he has a few secrets hidden behind his cheerful demeanor. There are four character routes to choose from during a playthrough. As the game itself describes, your route choices are “a clueless idol, a crazy athlete, a happy-go-lucky redhead, and a detached cat lover.” The four character routes are Anya, the smart cat lover who always sounds annoyed whenever they are spoken to but loves to be sassy back; Diana, the loud carefree redhead who likes to gossip about those around her; Cameron, the smart, athletic, who wants everyone to do their best, childhood friend, and finally, Elisabeth, the famous singer who loves to eat and just moved into town. Each of the main characters has a fleshed-out personality along with their own struggles. It’s refreshing to see them working out their personal problems in a way that causes you to get emotionally invested. The entire cast shows up in each of the routes, which is great because they riff off each other so naturally. The art of Aquadine is outstanding, and there’s a lot of it to enjoy. Now, typically the characters are what grabs the attention, but it was the backgrounds for me. These backgrounds absolutely blew me away; there are so many different places and tones to each. They are extremely detailed, with almost every single one bringing in the water theme to some degree with a gorgeous amount of polish. As for the characters themselves, they each have a wonderful design. The character’s art style was soft and pleasant to look at throughout the routes. The only issue I had with the character sprites was the animations when they are speaking. It was a bit jarring at first since every time they speak they jump around a bit. After a while, I got used to it, but I would have liked an option to turn it off.

Interesting characters.

Further, a few characters looked a little out of place stylistically, but it wasn’t a deal-breaker. All the characters are all easily distinguishable from one another but still have a certain charm. Even the side characters had multiple sprites, and some even had different outfits making them stand out even more. The UI was simple and aquatic-themed; it does its job well. The music was another significant part of the game, especially the opening theme. Like the rest of the game, the soundtrack was fun and fit beautifully with whatever scene was going on at the time. There is voice acting, which was a great addition, buts it’s only partially voiced. Each character, even the side characters, has multiple voice lines that add to the emotional tone. I do wish the main cast had a few more lines, as hearing the same small batch of audio over and over across the routes can become a bit dull over time. The only character that did grate on me each time they spoke was the grandpa as he speaks like “The Hulk,” and while cute at first, it quickly takes its toll. SIGNALIS

The game itself is rather short; unfortunately, it took about ten hours to finish all of the routes, but it was still a fun experience. There were some background characters I wanted to learn more about that felt like they should have had a more prominent role but ended up with a small part and not much substance. Also, there was one route that definitely needed more storytime to flesh out the characters. That route begins by throwing a ton of backstory that’s important but, by the end of the route, some questions either weren’t answered or didn’t have a satisfactory resolution. The common route is the longest, which took me around three and a half hours to finish. Once complete, you get to choose between the four individual character routes, which each took around two hours. The good news is you don’t have to go skipping through the common route each time. You can simply choose from the menu which route you want to pursue next. There are good ends or bad ends here either; just select the character route to play as it’s a kinetic visual novel.

Aquadine is an original visual novel that plays with a unique and absorbing story.

The story takes place in the town of Aquadine, a city full of cultural references to mermaids and ancient civilization. This city was lost to history after their godly protector left the humans due to discrimination. Honoring those Gods still, the city has built a water canal system, leading to situations like gondoliers – those who steer the gondola and normally act as a tour guide – to be of moderate importance. Our main character is Robin, a bookworm and bland high school student who lives with his grandfather. He faces a fairly average life with his school friend Cameron who runs the local martial arts club. She strongly believes in pointing people in the right path. Then there’s Diana who is the flirty sociable type with her fair share of being an airhead. There’s also the timid and cute Anya; she constantly misses classes. After his schooling, you’d assume that Robin would spend the rest of the day in the library, but that’s what he would want you to believe. In an average civilian/superhero dynamic, Robin will sometimes turn into his alternate persona Ciel – the town’s grand gondolier. He assumes that position after his mother – the last famous one – named Torrie retired due to health issues. Milfcreek

Ciel is assumed to be a unique find by the company owned by Robin’s family. Not knowing his true identity, they believe he is leagues ahead of Robin’s own skills as a gondolier. As Robin – he retired years ago and has never taken the job again in the public’s eyes. One day at Robin’s high school, a new transfer student arrives named Elizabeth; a famous singer from another city. In proper anime etiquette, Robin is assigned to be her tour guide of the school grounds despite the objection of the class; his schoolmates think he would be very boring. Regardless, he and Elizabeth end up becoming friends and part ways after he introduces her to his group. They all immediately hit it off thanks to Elizabeth’s dense, but highly sociable personality. What Robin didn’t expect was that his persona Ciel was also arranged to give Elizabeth a tour in the afternoon. His grandfather even told her that it was Ciel’s mother that was sick in the hospital, and not Robin’s – his secret might be reaching the expiration date. To relax his mind from the close call he faced, Ciel decides to row a bit at night to relax, reaching a coast with jellyfish dancing in the air like ghosts.

Ayna.

The moonlight shines on top of a mermaid he notices bathing in the water. Although, she quickly flees when seeing Ciel. Stories of mermaids and underwater cities like Atlantis have long permeated cultures the world over. In the visual novel Aquadine, set in a fictional city of the same name, they have their own lore on the subject, though that lore is arguably closer to fact than many skeptics believe. Centuries upon centuries ago, the humans of the region prayed to the sea god Levios for aid during a severe famine. He agreed, but under the condition that the humans allow merfolk to live among them. For a time, things were peaceful, but the differences between the two peoples eventually led to a schism. The merfolk retreated to the safety of the sea, where Levios constructed a beautiful underwater kingdom for them that he called Aquadine. A forbidden love affair later on between a mermaid and a human sailor eventually brought about the abandonment and subsequent destruction of Ancient Aquadine, and the mystical kingdom and its former inhabitants became the stuff of legend, their existence debated heavily into the present day.

To commemorate this mythic history, the human settlement of Aquadine was established. This second Aquadine is where the lion’s share of this VN’s plot takes place. Players fall into the role of Robin: a young man trying his hardest to support his ailing mother, a much-beloved gondolier of the seaside community who developed a mysterious disease that is now threatening her very life. Robin’s life isn’t easy, and he suffers from the harsh, critical eye of many of the townspeople who don’t believe he could ever fill in for his mother. The anxious Robin adopts the disguise of the more outgoing and cordial “Ciel” to continue giving gondolier tours after the city writes him off, and it isn’t long before Ciel becomes something of a celebrity. As Robin tries to balance his double life, his mother’s condition steadily worsens, and events begin to occur throughout the city that may prove the merfolk lore behind the town’s founding is more accurate than most believe. Because Aquadine is essentially a kinetic visual novel, to delve more into the story would be a disservice.

Suffice it to say, aside from a few jokes played for laughs, this is a very wholesome story that delves most into family, friendship, growing up, carrying on through loss, and falling in love, all with fantasy undertones. Aquadine is definitely a fictional city I’d love to visit at some point, and the visual novel is comprised of a colorful cast of characters with extremely relatable story arcs. Robin (or Ciel) is joined in the main cast by the gloomy artist Anya, the determined athlete Cameron, the perky cafe waitress Diana, and the sweet-natured singer Elisabeth. The group of friends are front and center throughout the game’s common route. Eventually, in the only real “choice” you make throughout the title, you pick one of the other four characters’ individual story arcs to follow through to completion. Each one has their own personal outcomes, with a supporting cast of characters that make appearances in differing ways throughout the individual routes. I liked the main cast quite a bit. I found their personal struggles very relatable, especially Diana’s search to find herself, Anya wanting to feel like she belonged somewhere, and Robin hiding who he truly is by putting up a fake persona in front of others. The supporting cast is colorful and exciting enough in their own right, making me curious to see just what they’d do whenever they showed up next.  DEAD MAN´S DIARY
