Soulstone Survivors Free Download GAMESPACK.NET One of the eras that kids today have missed was that golden age that, as an alternative to modern 3D gaming, involved many casual PC gamers in board games, timed puzzles, and automated horde simulators.” RNG”. A generation of simple, humble and light games that, however, provided many of us with countless hours of completely anxiety-free fun. Or at least we thought . What we have in hand today, from the hands of our friends at “Game Smithing Limited”; it is an updated take that, under a similar paradigm, captures all the important aspects of an experience that brings out the most in the least. Soulstone Survivors is a horde and “spam bot” simulator with mostly automated interactions that seeks to push the threshold of “power ups” and the improvements that we can add within the same game. For the same reason that in those games of yesteryear we used to discover secret codes for things like “invincibility” or “infinite ammo”… The feeling of being untouchable sometimes came supercharged with satisfaction. What back in the days of games like the original DOOM came in the form of the infamous “IDDQD” and “IDKFA”, which were not meant to be used for “personal achievement” purposes, but were definitely used by a majority, are options that have paved their way to modern games in a more balanced and less unfair way. That is the critical point of the satisfaction factor of Soulstone Survivors… Starting as a simple warrior and ending as a God in an addictive and rewarding experience. Throughout Soulstone Survivors, we can unlock a wide variety of characters ranging from melee warriors to wizards and beast masters. Each with partially unique attributes, new abilities, and somewhat unique combinations of elemental powers; none plan to establish anything close to a “META”, but instead seek to appeal to all types of players with different playstyles. Whether it is a style of evasively passing through enemies without taking damage, repositioning quickly to take advantage, or simply tanking by commanding a potentially “impenetrable” area; the different characters we see in the primary version lend themselves to everyone’s tastes.

Overcome extreme challenges to craft legendary weapons.

A progressive degree of difficulty that goes from a low floor to a high ceiling The way the game works and its progression is based on a third-person warrior who begins by executing a basic attack every certain amount of time as “cooldowns” as we already know them in battle arena games and role.  Being the first few minutes of the game quite generous depending on the amount of information to be processed by our brain, we level up as we eliminate enemies; and every time we level up we are offered one of 3 random cards. Cards can be new attacks, general passive upgrades, or direct upgrades for a defined attack type. The attacks themselves bring with them attributes that define their abilities and upgrade parameters, just as many RPGs of yesteryear did. As the game progresses, we eliminate enemies and level up; We notice that the number of attacks per second we make, and the number of enemies that appear, is growing factorially. All this reaches a point where it is practically impossible to analyze everything that happens on the screen in isolation. Streets Of Rage 4

since we have up to 6 attacks that eventually improve in speed and damage; and hundreds of enemies within our display. The only constructive criticism we want to leave in this part of the review is that… Given the level of difficulty that an advanced game can reach, it would have been a good addition for quality of life purposes to be able to control our character in a more advanced and deliberate way based on “hotkeys” and organization of “power ups” . Soulstone Survivors is an action roguelite where you slay hordes of foes and face titanic bosses while learning powerful skills to enhance your character. Play as a Void Hunter, and with the spoils of every match craft weapons, unlock new characters, upgrade your skill tree and equip new runes, all in your quest for godlike powers. Played a few dozen hours of the demo and I recommend this game 100%. It has a lot of content and more importantly, a pretty good progression system both in your characters and the game modes. I also love to see how some of the abilities and passives are inspired in stuff from other games like WoW and PoE which are my favourite. My only complain is that the game gets a bit laggy on steam deck when the runs are on the second half.

Face and defeat powerful Bosses.

it is not unplayable but fps tanks to 20-30 sometimes in low settings, usually hovers around 40 fps and maintain 60fps for the early stages of the run, fsr doesnt fix the issue so it seems like it is a cpu bottleneck. I played a fair bit of prologue, like 15/17hrs or so. Unlocking everything it had to offer (skill tree, weapons etc). I was really looking forward to the EA release to see what the game had to offer beyond what it already showed in what was already a very generous demo. Very happy to see that it was worth the wait. Really looking forward to start unlocking all the characters and runes and start messing with some OP builds. Definitely gonna be sweating this game out over the coming months. This game is actually alright if you plan to just play it for a few hours, but anything beyond that feels very repetitive and the sense of progression falls off very quickly. That alone makes this game not worth the current price-tag in my eyes. Let’s go over what’s good first. It is a fun roguelike. The game has a nice atmosphere with great music, nice looking models and vibrant effects. Didnapper 2

There are lots of skills/abilities for you to choose from as you level up, many characters to play, runes to unlock, weapons to craft and a skill tree for you to progress through. The in-game UI looks clean (for the most part) and functions well, and there are plenty of achievements to unlock for those who are interested in that (though the steam achievements seem to be broken as of writing this review). And then comes the bad, and unfortunately there’s lots of it. Let’s start of with the progression of this game. The game is incredibly short in terms of linear progression, and by that, I mean that there are only 5 levels for you to explore and a small number of different enemies, and most of the characters play the same as the only thing that is different between them is their starting weapon and some changes to their stats. For most roguelikes, they can get away with having a low amount of linear content if there is either lots of replay-ability, or tons of vertical content. Now while this game does feature quite a bit of vertical content, such as unlocking all the characters, crafting all the weapons, unlocking all the runes and the skill tree, the replay-ability just isn’t there.

After just 4 runs I already felt like things were getting repetitive, and yes, even when I started applying curses to make the runs harder. And to mention the curses, they don’t feel like they add anything interesting to the runs, other than just making them slightly more annoying, the only exception I found being the one that spawns two bosses rather than one, that one was kinda neat. This also brings me to the point that the game is incredibly easy as every attack is telegraphed and is easy to dodge. The way they try to introduce difficulty with curses and red portals just doesn’t work for me. Red portals basically just let you play through the levels again, but you keep your skills/abilities, and the enemies health bars just keep getting bigger. They appear at the end of levels and you can choose between quitting the run or keep going through the red ones. The way this scales just feel unnatural, as you can have the most crazy build ever, and the enemies still take an eternity to kill. I personally found myself just giving up when I get to this point as dodging the boss’ same 4 attacks for over 15 minutes just isn’t fun for me, especially not when I get to do exactly that on the next wave of bosses but for even longer.

One of the saddest parts for me though is that the skills/abilities don’t really seem to synergize almost at all. In most roguelikes you could probably get an item or two and get a visual image of this insane build you want to try to go for, but that just isn’t a thing in this game. As far as synergies go, it seems they just added some skills/abilities that includes buffing certain keywords and called it a day. Considering most abilities have a bunch of keywords and elemental properties, this feels like such a waste. That’s most of the game-play issues I ran into. Figured I should also mention that the effects and numbers literally make the game unplayable once you get into long runs as they clog up the entire screen, and you must go into the options menu to turn this down (why isn’t this a thing by default??). Combine this with the ugly stacking of the skills/abilities as you gather them and having them clip through text and menus, it just doesn’t look very good. Then there are the technical issues. Crashes, lag and my GPU trying to take-off. I seemed to run into crashes every other run I tried once I started playing the game.

Lag is a massive issue when it comes to runs that last a long time, and I’ve died several times into hour long runs just because my game literally freezes from everything that’s going on. I can understand all these effects and enemies take lots of GPU power as they happen, but why does my GPU have to go full power while I’m just sitting in the main menu? Before even starting my run? That is pretty much all I have to say about Soulstone Survivors for now. This could actually become an excellent game should the developers put in the work to fix these issues as it’s fundamentals are damn solid. I really hope I can come back to this game in the future and have a better experience and leave a more positive review, but for now, sadly I can not recommend this game. This game feels great at beginning, making you think it has some build variety / depth to it. But as soon as you enter endless mode the game gets super boring. Your skills basically all hit full screen after some investment and all you do is stacking damage to kill a bit faster. There’s no depth and variety in the end game. Sure you can switch skills midway, but you’re just ditching the 500% damage/ area effect/ attack speed you got along the way , making the switch a huge lost to your build. Sifu Switch XCI
