I personally enjoy Shards more, I probably have well over 70 plays of it by this point. I felt like Star Realms has a lot of fairly straightforward cards, but the Shards cards felt more diverse. As a result it felt like there was a lot more room to explore to combos. I also really enjoy the mastery mechanic in Shards as an alternate win condition and I feel like the expansions bring in some really cool stuff as well. ETA: I suppose I should add that Star Realms might be a bit more beginner friendly due to the straightforward cards. If y’all feel like you’ve been learning the new boardgames quickly Shards should be fine. But if you want a really basic intro Star Realms would likely be the way to go. I’m planning to pick up my very first deck-building game, planning to play it mainly with my girlfriend. We’re both new to modern boardgames, but played a few titles already which we enjoy, including a few hand management / drafting games like Lost Cities, Wingspan, Evolution (I understand that they’re not deck builders). I was pretty much settled on Star Realms Frontiers but then I discovered Shards of Infinity and now I’m unsure again. I couldn’t find any direct comparisons between the two for first-time deck-builders like me. Which one do you recommend and why? I would only like to buy one, so please don’t say I should get both 🙂 PS: I had already looked up both Dominion and Ascension and I didn’t really like them so please don’t recommend those two 🙂 Until Dawn Free Download
