Really good beat em up so far with cool rogue-like equipment finding system. Found this cool item that made fireballs fly out of the sky in conjunction with my moves. Felt cool, never found it again. Combat is really good, reminds me a bit of Fight N Rage and all the characters play unique with interesting free-form combo routes. Music is pretty good, the pixel art is absolute superb. The mechanics are pretty fun, you got this just defense parry thing which you can counter attack out of. It can be used to break certain shields on enemies. You also have strong weapon attacks that can be used to break other kind of armored enemies’ guards. Each character have an affinity for certain elements and you can get spells and and pick ups that give you other elemental attacks. My only gripe with the game is that with all the effect animations going off, and enemies and your character being ping ponged around by every heavy hit, it’s very easy to lose track of your player character. While the AI partner is very competent, there are times when they’d take the food pick up that you needed or hit enemies out of your combos. Shift’n Slay

I think I’ve beaten all the gods, and already want more. Here’s to hoping we get native online co-op. It irks me a bit that combo trials are locked behind the unlockables. It doesn’t take too long to unlock though. Definitely a recommend for me. One of the best beat em up games I’ve played in a LOOONG time! Two things make this game stand out and shine for me are the combat and the artwork! I love that I’m rewarded for putting in the work to extend and pull off combos, and I love how detailed the characters are. I also love that it’s in the same universe/world as Valdis Story (another game by Endless Fluff). I’m really excited about the additional content that’s to come (I hope they add a character who uses a scythe), as well as the overall polishing and fine tuning this game deserves. 10/10 so far for me.
